NT results
I was not prepared for this. Especially since the call came at 7pm and I had long since thought I was clear of bad news today. I was trying to stay focused and calm and wasn't prepared with enough questions. Basically my risk came back as 1:199 chances for down syndrome. He confirmed what the sono tech said that the NT measurements were normal. He said that was reassuring and so was one blood test that came back as a 20 year-old's would. But he said another blood test came back as if I was 36 years old. (I'm 29 btw).
I didn't ask what was what and I'm just feeling a little numb. Not be be too nosey, but anyone else deal with this? I would love to hear some encouragement.

Re: NT results
I had very similar results as you . The NT sonogram was normal, but one of the blood tests results skewed the down syndrome number.
I was worried and ended up doing a bunch of googling (which I DO NOT recommend).
At 16 weeks, I took another blood test which improved my results. At the 20 week sonogram everything came back normal.
So, so far so good. Try not to worry. I'm sure everything will be fine for you too.
Also, when you do the math 1:199 = .5% which is really not that bad at all.

Re: NT results
My NT results came back with a 1:13 chance for Downs. I did the CVS and requested they do the FISH(24 hour results) and NT results were completely wrong.
From my experience and from what other people have said the NT scan is just not accurate...

Thanks for the encouragement.....and thank you for telling me to get the heck off google

Re: NT results
I'm crashing, and it was not specifically the NT scan, but my afp came back with a 1/20 risk of open neural tube defects- spina bifida and anencephaly. It was a completely awful period of time before we got some reassurance things were probably ok. But all doctors said with these conditions, they won't know for sure until the baby is born. All turned out ok and my DS is perfectly fine, but I know how stressful it can be. Try to focus on the positive, that really helped me- 1/199 risk means your baby has a 99.5% chance everything is totally fine!

NT results
My scan was great. My measurements were great. Then my first blood test results came back. I also got the unexpected call telling me my results were down to 1 in 66 for down's. I was advised to see a genetic counselor. We opted against any more evasive testing. The results came right after Thanksgiving and almost ruined my holiday season last year. Then my 16 week came back as 1 in 466. This test is horrible . It's a crap shoot at best of a possibility. My DD arrived 4 plus weeks early and she's absolutely fine. From speaking to people I have heard SO MANY horror stories about false positives.Sending prayers.

Re: NT results
I also had bad news from the NT blood work - not the scan that all looked great! I was sick to my stomach with worry (which I'm sure your feeling)
We decided to go ahead with the amnio and everything came back great!!!! The wait was hell and all the girls on LIF helped me through the wait! Good luck and DONT GOOGLE!

Re: NT results
Like a PP said, 1 out of 199 is very low. If someone told you that if you went to Vegas and had a 198 in 199 chance of winning, you'd definitely play... same odds are that the baby is healthy and fine. It'll be ok, mama

NT results
your odds are still very good that everything is fine. the FET wouldn't have anything to do with the results - they are based off of unrelated things. your number really isnt bad, its just a bit worse than it should be for your age. out of the number of people who get "worse" results on this, very few of them end up having a baby with issues. 1 in 199 is very low - for comparative purposes your odds of dying in a car accident (according to the NY Times) are in 1 in 84, and of dying of accidental poisoning 1 in 193.
good luck but try not be stressed over a number that in relative terms is very very low, just not as low as you would prefer or expect it to be.

Re: NT results
Thanks for the reality check. I called this morning to schedule the amnio and the receptionist said my doc made no notes about an amnio so she couldn't schedule it until he came in.
I needed to take my mind off that since I am an action person and they are telling me I can not take action. So I decide to take a look at gap maternity since the beband I bought is not working for me. I wanted leggings so I clicked the link and it said no leggings are available at this time. So I thought I would look at jeans and I found one's that I liked, but they didn't have my size.
Plan C - going to get my first mani pedi since my BFP. I was waiting till the first trimester was over and now seems like a good time to relax and enjoy myself.
