Health Insurance
I'm a NYC teacher and my husband is a NYC police officer. We just got married last year and we both still have separate insurance. Should I go to his health insurance when the open enrollment comes out? Looking for anyone who is in the same scenario to give some advice!
Thanks!

i would look at what you pay to your health insurance for just you nd what the cost is for plus one under your insurance and what those numbers are for your dh. if it is cheaper to combine - then combine if not wait
for the first 4 years of marraiage my dh and i had the same insurance company but we had it separately through or own companies
the only other thing to note is if the benefits are different in terms of pregnancy coverage or infertility - but they should be similar
also even if you don't want to work after having a child - a child is a life event that opn enrollment again for 30 days so you can go together then

Re: Health Insurance
I am a NYC teacher and my husband is a NYC police officer. If both of you have GHI, then it is no reason that you need two plans. GHI is free for both police officers and teachers. My family are all on his plan (GHI). However, I do have my family on my prescription, eye and dental plan (which is through the UFT), as well as through his PBA benefits.
