Has anyone ever been told they weren't sure if it was ectopic or not?

Has anyone ever been told they weren't sure if it was ectopic or not?
I got my bloodwork back...
In the hospital 10 days ago, hgc was 690
2 days later (8 days ago) it hgc was 340
yesterdays results just came in ...hgc is at 268..a solid 8 days after last blood draw.
She isn't concerned that its dropping realllly slow, but doctor said it may have been an early ectopic that resolved on its own. They saw nothing in my uterus (although they thought they saw a teeny sac the night in the hospital) and thought i ruptured an ovarian cyst.
does anyone know if slow falling levels means ectopic?? I have no clue what to think.
And once you've had an ectopic, chances are higher of it occurring again, correct? I'm a nervous mess now..just want to move forward

Re: Has anyone ever been told they weren't sure if it was ectopic or not?
my levels weren't doubling like normal. they told me early on that the pregnancy wasn't healthy. then for my 6 week sono they didn't see anything. they knew there was a problem. they thought the pregnancy was maybe in the lining of my uterus. i took the cytotec. this is suppose to clear out your uterus. the pill didn't work and i was still pregnant. then i had the injection. that is what ended my pregnancy. the RE believes that it was etopic because the pill didn't work so it wasn't in the uterus. we never saw the sac so i don't know where it was. i can only assume it was ectopic. my chances of having another ectopic has increased. i don't know if my situation is like yours. i'm sorry you are going through this. when do you go to the doctor next? how many weeks are you? can they see anything?

Thanks for the reply
I was exactly 6 weeks when i rushed to the hospital, my left side felt like it was exploding. They thought ectopic..then suddenly the pain just stopped. They thought there was a tiny sac on the scan and saw something by my ovary (ruptured cyst). Doctor thought my dates were off because my levels were that of a 5 week pregnancy.
Basically they sent me home, said i was most likely miscarrying OR my dates were off.
At a follow up appointment my uterus had nothing in it. Ovary looked great, and nothing in the tube that they could see. Paired with my falling hgc, it seems it was an early miscarriage.
But for some reason, my levels are falling very slowly now. It took 8 days to drop from the 300's to 278. She said it may just be dropping slowly, nothing to be concerned about but it could possibly have been an ectopic that got to a certain point before terminating itself (for lack of a better term).
So confusing.
Thanks so much for the reply, its appreciated!! I go back in a week for bloodwork and will see how levels are.
I stopped bleeding and cramping and today is the FIRST day i feel like myself again. Thank god.
Good luck to you too...it stinks any of us have to go through this, but good things are coming our way..

Re: Has anyone ever been told they weren't sure if it was ectopic or not?
Sort of.
My first pregnancy I had all the symptoms of an ectopic and a half-wit GYN who didn't bother to look for one even though the beta was high and there was nothing in the uterus. I thought nothing of the pain because I'd never had a m/c before, so I just assumed it was normal.
Then I had other m/c that didn't hurt.
Then I had a LAP that revealed tubal scarring.
Then I had an ectopic, and it confirmed my suspicions.
I'm not sure to what extent that first ectopic ruptured because I did bleed from it, but it resolved itself on its own. My betas started to go down after about a week. I did have another one, but not until my doctor surgically freed that scarred tube. I promptly got pregnant in it again and had it removed.
