I need help trying to make sense out of everything
I'm new to this board and new to the world of special needs. i will try to keep this as short as possible and try to keep questions to a minimum. i will start by giving a little background. I have 3 wonderful girls ages 16, 13 and my little peanut is 13 months she is our special blessing. We do not have a conclusive DX at the moment still having the never ending testing done. as of right now she has microcephaly, hypogenesis of the corpus collosum, SPD, FTT and reflux. presently right now she is delayed in gross motor, fine motor and her biggest delay is in speech.we have a team of drs but they seem to be focused on what is the dx is and not on what can we do. When she was nine months old i took it upon myself to call EI because she was still not babbling or using her voice and had her evaluated right now she is getting PT for 45 mins 2x/wk speech/feeding for 45 mins 2x/wk and nutri once a month. just had OT eval done she qualifies but waiting for coordinator to get back to as to when that will start . Ok here are my questions.... is there any therapies that i can get her into from EI that are outside of the house like a mommy and me or group play? other then EI is there anything else i should be doing or looking into? I know that with both micro and the disorder of the corpus collosum it is a wait and see game but does anybody have a insight as to what i might expect? Thank you in advance

Re: I need help trying to make sense out of everything
She is still quite young but EI does provide mommy and me classes. They are given at a lot of the large agencies and sometimes the smaller ones. EI will cover that ! However, I would say that most of the classes are for kids around 2 years. But perhaps she could get a lot out of it.
I also highly recommend Music Therapy ! Music works both sides of the brain so it really helps with those neural pathways plus....it's just fun. I had a music therapist come to my home 2x a week and all my kids participated. (my kids are all similar in age) however, I do think it's something your older ones can do with the little one. Music therapy was the most productive of all my dd's therapies when she was young. Her first words came during those sessions. In fact, music is a huge motivator to get kids mobile if gross motor is a factor. FM me if you want more info, or contact the Rebecca School of Music at Molloy. I actually found our home therapist via a facebook group on music therapy. I believe our therapist is now servicing long island again (she was working in CT for awhile).
Not sure where you live but in Lido Beach there is a wonderful place called the Theresa Academy of Performing Arts (TAPA)...they have a beautiful facility and provide classes for special needs kids. They will even create a class for you if you have one in mind or at a time they don't have a class. I think they have a mommy and me sign language class now in the mornings. http://www.theresafoundation.org

Re: I need help trying to make sense out of everything
Island therapies, kids in action, and ddi all have mommy and me through ei. I think they usually wait until about 18 months to add those activities. The bayshore and patchouge YMCA has swimming with a pt and horse ability does horse therapy with a pt or Ot beginning about age 2. At tat age I did the library classes, we stayed in the baby class for a Lon time. At 18 months we started music together which was amazing for my ds and was one of the few social activities he enjoyed.
My ds now is 3 and does a full time school program. You can fm me with any questions.

My daughter loves music she loves to dance (while sitting she does not stand alone yet) i need to try to find things that are really inexpensive or covered through EI or ins(child health plus) due to financial reasons . our library doesnt have a whole lot for her the classes that are appropriate for her due to delays she is to old for they tell me that i have to register for toddler classes ages 12 months - 36 months.
