Re: First observation in 2 weeks!
What rubric did your union ratify as part of APPR?
If it's the NYSUT rubric, I'd look through it... BTW, just did and it's FORTY-TWO pages and make sure you hit on as much as possible given the nature of your classroom.
Good luck.

Re: First observation in 2 weeks!
Our district is doing monthly mini-observations...which is TOTALLY different from the past method. So they've been very clear with us this year about expectations as far as observations go. Is there going to be a pre-observation meeting? I'd suggest not doing anything over the top...just a lesson you would no on an average day. And relax.

Yep... Pre observation and post. I am pretty confident it will go we'll. I am all over that APPR rubric!

Re: First observation in 2 weeks!
I forget what level you said you teach but I used to tell my kids (middle school special ed) that the observer was there to observe THEM. I said that I love to brag about what great kids they are and what great work we do in the classroom and now the asst principal or principal (whoever does the observation) wants to see for themselves!
They liked the idea that they got a compliment and tried to live up to what I apparently said about them

They are GREAT kids and I love them, but I am going to scare them before THEIR observation
