Any small business owners about there?

DH has a small business. One of his employees has been hostile and caught snooping through his private emails. He can't fire this person on the spot because he needs to find a replacement.

My concern is can a person file for unemployment if they were fired with just cause? I can definitely see this person lying to unemployment by saying they were laid off, downsized, etc.

Any advice is appreciated?

Yes, they can still collect unemployment.

You can fight the UE claim but chances are you will lose.

I've had employees steal from us, be written up numerous times, etc and we still lose.
