I have had lunch at Singleton's a few times (my boss likes it) I don't like it at all. Nothing specific, just never walked out saying, wow, that was great!

How big is your party, and what areas/towns would you prefer to be in?

As far as the restaurants you asked about:

I've been to parties at Singleton's... I think the big "pro" there is that they have a private party room, if you want that. I've been to parties there with DJs and that type of thing. The food is ok, nothing to write home about (imo) - for the private parties I've been to there, it's always been buffet. It's centrally located and there's ample parking.

I live a few blocks away from Elisa's. The food there is very good, imo. But I haven't been to a party there, just dinner. If you have a really big group, I'm not sure how that would work out, because it's a relatively small restaurant, and I'm not sure if you could have the restaurant to yourself (but I think I've seen them closed for private parties, so you probably can). Also, the parking lot there is pretty small.

I haven't been to Puglia's since it changed owners, but I had DS's christening there in early 2009 (when it was City Cafe). I had a pretty big group for a sit-down dinner, and I was happy with the space (there was a big bar area for people to get up and mingle), food, and service. I can't comment on the food and service now, but I would say the pluses would be the size of the venue (could accommodate a large group for a sit down meal or buffet style meal), the bar area, and the convenient location (it's easy to get to, right off the Meadowbrook).

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Elisa's!! The food is great but the restaurant isnt all that big. However, depending on when you have your party they can close off the restaurant or keep it private if you have the party earlier.

Their parking lot is small, but you are able to park across the street too and on the street if that helps. They really do a good job and their food is quality!

You can call them and ask to speak to Rocco, he will tell you all of this. But their party packages are amazing and give you a lot for a good buck!

Alright, I have three more places to check out

1) La Familigia in Plainview - great, great food and good prices for party and private rooms.

2) Paparazzi in Westbury, also private rooms and semi private area. Prices are average, but also good food.

3) Umbertos in New Hyde Park - upstairs private room, no elevator but food is great too. Not 100% on prices but I would say average.

Ginos in New Hyde Park is good, and also has a private room but their package doesnt include a variety of choices as compared to others.

Re: COMMUNION PARTY MADNESS!!! LOL

I have eaten at Singletons a few times and been to a private party there. It was so-so. Not worth the money in my opinion.

When we booked DD's christening I made DH eat at every potential restaurant. We used penne with vodka sauce as a point to compare across the restaurants. We tried Sergios, Elisa's, Puglia, and Passione.

I thought Elisa's was priced right and they were nice but wasn't overly impressed with the food.

Sergios was delicious and the owner was great but (and I know this sounds terrible) I didn't care for the decor.

Passione was beautiful and the price wasn't bad at all. The food was pretty good.

Puglia's - the last place on our list and hands down the best food we tried. Lauren is the person who does the bookings and she was great to work with. I think the prices start at 29.95. We didn't do open bar but did offer a champagne punch that was inexpensive and did the trick. The food day of was killer. Everyone raved. We were able to plug in our iPod too which was really nice.

If you have any questions FM me but I totally vote for Puglia's
