Why I am in the hospital for early labor! *update2- going home!*
Never in a million years did I see this coming. Ever. I had been feeling large and tired for a few days, and w/increased pelvic pressure, I thought it was par for the course- I called my MFM/Peri and they told me to take it easy and go on modified bedrest. I stopped work Wed.
Friday AM was my reg.checkup. First- swollen foot and aNkle +proeins. Uh oh.
Cervical check? 1cm dialated!  are you kidding? They put me on the monitor, and measured contractions as 10 mins apart. and . W. T. F. I don't FEEL contractions! Um, you mean wHen my belly gets hard and the twins "migrate" to tHe right? That annoying pain is CONTRACTIONS????
Um yeah, apparently enough to keep me here all weekend. 33W 1D and I was a wreck. They immediately put me in Triage at NSLIJ and gave me some drug to stop them (starts witha P, oral meds). They didn't work, even though contactions were mild. Also gave us sterroids to build up babies' lungs! Then, on to Magnesium. I blew two veins in the process (I have terrible veins) and they killed me. But the mag began to work, and the annoying contractions stopped. I was still in a crappy room because Baby A and B both needed to cooperate at the same time on the monitor. Lol, yeah right, bul!sh!t. For 9+ hours, we tried. Finally, at 2:40 AM, I was able to go to a REAL antepartum room, sleep and lay how I wanted to, and eat real food! The contractions have stopped and my back is really sore from laying uncomfortably for too long.
Please pray that when and IF I am released Sunday, I take these babies hhome till NOV 8th, the earliest. I got to see Baby B open her eyes at me on the sono last night  I love them so much and they are so beautiful but I just want them healthy and perfect. 33W is too soon. Please pray girls, pray!!!

Omg my prayers are with you!! I'm still here in antepartum wing too! I'm in room 302! I'm still contracting on procardia but so far they say as long as the contractions don't get stronger or closer together it's ok. I'm on 32 weeks 1 day today and I'm 2-3 cm and 80% effaced. They are supposed to recheck me tomorrow or Monday. I'm just so happy to be out of L&D (they send me over there any time I need closer monitoring and honestly just being over there freaks me out!). I hope the procardia works for you and that you can continue this pregnancy till the end! Xoxo

sending prayers ur way!!! Make sure that if you go home u stay put. something similar happened to me at 31 weeks. I spend 5 nights in the hospital mostly because even after 14 hours on the magnesium i was still having contractions and almost delivered. I was 2cm dilated even with a cerclage.
after being discharged I was on house arrest. allowed to get up and shower and eat but that was it. Anyway I managed to carry my girls till 36 weeks and 3 days.
U can do it!!!!! Praying for you and those two little people in there!!

Oh Michelle You're not going to believe this but you crossed my mind last night and I thought, "How far along is she? and could she be??" and then I stalked your post history So you've been on my mind all day.
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I hope everything stabilizes soon. Were you still working up until this point? Do you remember me leaving? That was week 29 and it was the Friday of mid-year exams... I will never forget how physically hard it was to get through the day. By week 33 or so I had to pace myself just puttering around the house It's hard at this stage. At one point I was having contractions that I couldn't feel either
I hope everything works and the girls stay in for a few weeks more. We will be praying for you over here

Omg, sweetheart! Praying hard for you and your sweet babies!! What an ordeal you're going through. It must be so scary & uncomfortable/painful!!

i am so sorry you are going through this! I know it is very scary. I went through the exact thing (only at 24 weeks). Went to the dr and was 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. Was having contractions that I couldn't feel. I ended up having to stay in the hospital for the remainder of the pregnancy because I was so early on, but with the help the bedrest and all of the meds, they were able to keep the babies in an extra 3 1/2 weeks before they were born. During my time in the NICU, I met other moms who were in pre-term labor and lasted even longer so don't panic just yet. There is so much they can do to keep those babies cookin! Best of luck to you!
Oh and getting the 2 babies on the monitor was always a nightmare. Every day I was in the hospital it was such a huge pain because as soon as they found one baby, the other one would move and they'd have to readjust the sensors. It was so annoying!

Hi, Ladies! A Quick positive update from the hospital! I am not even a quarter effaced and still 1cm. I responded well to the magnesium sulfate, although it makes you a friggin' fruit loop  my contractions are down to 0 so I'll be taken off of the loopy loops Mag, then we are going home Mondy evening! I'm a moron, I thought I was going home tonight.
Ok so if all goes well off the meds, I'll be going home to try and cook these pumpkin pies a little more
I am very positive, and I am looking forward to reading my books and directing the nesting traffic in my house for the next 3/4 weeks!

Oh yes T, I was still working till WEDS- cooking, cleaning, and driving too! I thought I could do it....

Like my dr said, from this point, you're just a hen sitting on her chicks.
That's the only thing you do (while relaxing/reading, etc)

I'm off the Magnesium Sulfate!. WooooooohOoooooo! Now, on to monitoring to ensure that I'm not contracting like crazy. Maybe I'll be allowed to go home tomorrow night! :praay:
