Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
With preschool picture day, holidays and family/holiday pictures coming up I figured I'd run out to do some shopping for the boys (and myself). Nothing! There was nothing I liked and the one sweater I really likes at the Gap was $40. It's cute, but still not worth that much for a 3 yr for picture day and I'd want to get two for his younger brother in another color possibly got holiday pics.. $80 for them is ridiculous. Everything else is very Christmas looking.
Anyone see anything out there worth buying and not cost a fortune? My have to check out the dept stores this weekend. Picture day is Monday so not much time. I also want to get something similiar for my 15 month old (sort of matching, but not the same exact) for when we do holiday pictures.

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
I like Ralph Lauren for boys. I recently ordered directly ordered from their website.
I loved their wimbledon line. I also just bought 3yo DS a baseball jacket from there. It is so cute!

I find that Nordstroms has great boys clothes-- but I tend to like some funkier things and less traditional.

Same here. My mom lives there and always picking stuff up for the boys do may hint something to let her know he needs some dressy stuff.

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
I am having a hard time this year too !!
While I usually love the GAP, I learned my lesson b/c their sweaters are beautiful and great quality - but HEAVY and uncomfortable for the boys.
I found a few cute sweaters on the Osh Kosh website - I'm looking for the 1/2 zip or button neck sweaters - SO cute .....but can't find anything plain w/o snowflakes or something cheesy on it -
I also love RL for the boys - but I don't like the RL prices ......so I shop @ Marshalls .....

I am having a hard time myself.. I have gone to 6-7 stores looking for a simple plain knit hat and I can't even find that. I dread looking for a holiday outfit..

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
Our holiday photo shoot is this weekend and my little DS will be wearing a Gap v-neck sweater (baby blue with navy stripes) and a red boxed plaid button down underneath. he'll be wearing baggier jeans rolled up at the bottoms with blue plaid slip on sneakers. My older DS is wearing a blue and white button down from Gymboree with a navy blue half zip sweatshirt from Crew Cuts. Then he's wearing dark skinny jeans with white Converse. The outfits look great together. They coordinate without being matchy matchy and they're not Christmasy at all. Let me look for some pictures for you..,

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
For dressier clothes my DS pretty much wears all Ralph Lauren and I haven't been dissapointed at all - he always looks so cute and I love the outfits! That said, it isn't cheap BUT, I do manage to make it affordable by buying most of the stuff I need for holidays etc. when they have their sales. You can get RL stuff at RL, lord and taylor, and bloomies all when they have their sales. RL just had a 25% off sale a few weeks ago and I already got DS's christmas clothes and jackets etc. Lord and Taylor and BLoomies also sometimes have sales on top of sales where the stuff is discounted and then on sale. Also, if you buy ahead a season (I never have luck with this) you can get it REALLY cheap. Oh also, I don't shop there but I know friends get alot of RL stuff from Macys. I never have had luck with the discount stores that carry RL but, I know some people do.
Also, Janie and Jack, Hartstrings, CWD Kids I've gotten cute boys stuff from especially when he was younger.

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
stopped in a carters outlet yesterday looking for L/s shirts that aren't t-shirts for DS. They had about 8 and they were all under $15 :)
I'm not usually a carters fan, but these are nice!

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
I just got a nice Nautica jeans/collared shirt/sweater set for my DS for thanksgiving- $25 at TJ Maxx. I also got a cute striped sweater. I've had such a hard time finding any nice tops or sweaters whatsoever this fall. I agree- shopping for boys can be depressing.

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
Try Gymboree or Crazy 8. I love the plaid shirt and sweater vest look. Regular sweaters get to hot on holidays so the sweater vest is a happy medium.
I got an outfit at Macy's on clearance last year by Nautica. Navy corduroys, red plaid shirt and white argyle sweater vest (red and navy).
For Thanksgiving I got a cream sweater with suede patches and a green and brown plaid shirt and darker brown pants. My mom got this at a boutique.
Marshalls always has ralph lauren, nautica, Tommy hilfiger clothes.

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
If you like trendier type boy stuff - Vintage Couture has cute stuff, but its on the pricier side. The sales are good though.

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
I thought Gap had some cute sweaters and not too bad when they have had like 30% off so often lately. Not sure if I'll use the Thanksgiving ones for class pictures tomorrow or what. They both have gym that day so not sure what I am putting on my sons. It has been warm - I may just use polos.
I bought these for Thanksgiving - picked 2 coordinating colors for the boys. http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=86589&vid=1&pid=914322012
and these from ON for Christmas - bought one gray and the other navy. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=41893&vid=1&pid=262301012

Re: Dissapointed... Boys clothes!
I have been having a tough time finding clothes for my 4 yr old DS lately ~ his size is always gone. I have been shopping online. I found his school picture clothes at Children's place online. (not christmasy)
