What is everyone planning on doing with their DC? Are you going trick or treating?

I was thinking the same thing. Hope the storm doesn't ruin it!

Re: Halloween and Storm

My kids went to a Halloween party yesterday and wore their costumes so we took photos then. If the storm is as bad as expected I think Halloween will be cancelled. I will let my kids have a scavenger hunt for candy in the house.

If this storm is what it is supposed to be, the last thing people should do is have their kids outside because of wires etc.

See what is what I am afraid of. I think the BRUNT of the storm will be over but its the aftermath that scares me. DD has her Halloween Party in school and i/ am hoping that school goes on bc at least she will have that.

Does anyone know of any indoor places for trick or treating? Any malls doing this?

Re: Halloween and Storm

I am putting her that costume regardless.
I spent more than I wanted to on it and am soooo pissed that she may not get to wear it.
I was hoping daycare would postpone their festivites until Thursday.
I don't see why they wouldn't- I mean the kids won't know the difference and they everyone will still get to particpate.

Either way I am taking pics of her in that costume!!!

I live in a apartment complex so if its not pouring or really windy out (and maintenance cleans up any dangerous debris) then we will stay in the complex and do some TOT.

That's what I'm planning on doing. I had my DH go get candy yesterday (we don't get trick or treaters, so no candy in the house). I will do a trick or treat scavenger hunt.

IF the mall has power, I know they have something planned for Wednesday afternoon. So depending on the state of the roads around here, I may do that too.

I was going to suggest the mall too. We really won't know anything until Sandy moves on. Chat Icon

Re: Halloween and Storm

I will assess the situation on Wednesday. I figure that I will take her to the mall or outlets if power lines are down.

Do you know if Smith Haven mall has trick or treating? I just checked the website but I found no information. I'd hate for my kids to miss out on Halloween.

Re: Halloween and Storm

I know my hood won't have downed lines- all the lines are buried.
The only ones that might go down are the main lines- but they are not accessable to the public- they are behind our neighborhood in a recharge basin area.

Downed trees would be a concern but I just plan to take her to a few houses anyway- she's too young for anything more extensive.
So as long as my block is clear- and the weather is ok- I'll take her.
