Please help a LI family who has lost everything
Hi everyone. My friends Rosa and Steve lost everything from hurricane Sandy. They left Brooklyn 2 years ago to live in their dream home, a small bungalow in Long beach, two blocks from the ocean. Their entire home, along with all of their belongings and their car are destroyed. Rosa is a stay at home mom to their two little girls, ages 10 months and 3 years, and Steve is a NYC fireman with my husband in manhattan. They are currently staying with Steve's parents out east (with no power). They have been able to go back to their home now that the water has receded to see if anything is salvageable but everything is completely destroyed, saturated in salt water, or covered in seaweed and sewage. Steve is still going to work and helping with recovery efforts in manhattan, meanwhile they have nothing besides the clothes on their backs. They still have to pay a mortgage on a home that they cannot live in until after it is rebuilt.
If anyone has any kids items in good condition that they are willing to donate, please let me know. I live in Queens but can come pick things up from people, or you can send them. I know they are in need of the following items:
Diapers (any brand) size 5-6 Wipes (any brand) Bath items like baby wash, baby shampoo, diaper cream etc Bottle Warmer Bibs, burb clothes etc Baby girl clothes size 24 months (fall, winter stuff) Little girl clothes size 4T (fall, winter stuff) Infant car seat with base and regular car seat Stroller High chair Pack n play Sheets, blankets etc Enfamil formula Baby food
Please message me if you have anything available.

Where out east? Anywhere near Hampton Bays? Is there somewhere people could drop things off?

I can help - I have a bottle warmer and 8 bottles of Enfamil ready to feed formula (6oz each). I also have a ton of clothes that someone gave me I have yet to go through. It's all girl stuff and goes all the way up to 5T, I think. I'm going to go through it tonight and sort through it all. I'm in Astoria and I'll be around all weekend.

I have over a dozen packages of unopened wipes. I'm in Massapequa. I also have a box of food to give.
ETA: I also have opened bottles of baby wash, lotion, etc if they would want that.

What size clothes do the adults wear? My husband and I put together a big bag of clothes to donate tomorrow but if they would fit your friends we would give them right to you!

Re: Please help a LI family who has lost everything
Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all your replies! I can't believe the overwhelming responses of generosity! Thank you all!
I live in Whitestone, queens. My friends are currently staying with family in Brookhaven. If anyone is able to drop things off please inbox me. I understand that the gas shortage is a huge issue right now. If you have small things that you want to mail, that's good too!
I am going to try to do some pickups in LI as soon as I can fill up my tank. If anyone is in fresh meadows or Astoria today, I will be collecting in those areas between 12:30-2:00. Otherwise I will also be in north belmore to collect more things after 7:00 tonight.
Thank you all!
