Brookhaven shelter- the shelter is in a crisis situation with over 200-plus dogs (not to mention the additional animals that have come in due to hurricane Sandy) and they have been closed TWICE this week to the public. There is NO outreach to place the animals, absolutely NO effort or interest in even PLACING the animals, and when people call to potentially adopt, NO ONE is answering the phone! The town is also considering slashing $100,000 from an already ridiculously strained budget at the shelter, which will result in MORE substandard care- THESE ANIMALS DESPERATELY NEED YOUR PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS- YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A BROOKHAVEN TOWN RESIDENT TO CALL OR EMAIL TO COMPLAIN- Please email Councilwoman Jane Bonner at [email protected] or call her office at 631-451-6964- tell her you are OPPOSED to the $100,000 being cut from the animal shelter budget and you are tired of these animals getting substandard care, and you want this shelter open and answering their phones!- The animals at Brookhaven are counting on you- LET'S BE THEIR VOICE AND FLOOD COUNCILWOMAN BONNER'S OFFICE WITH COMPLAINTS!
