TTC immediately after BCPs
Hi all! I'm new here and had a question... I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with TTC right after stopping BCPs. Last night was my last pill of the pack so I should get my period on Wednesday. I know it's a long shot, but we'd love to get preg in December but I know it might not be possible. Since we're going to try does anyone suggest using an opk now to see when I O? When would I start that? Should we BD every other day in December???
Any advice is appreciated. Also according to some calculations, if I'm totally on a regular schedule in December, DH will be away on business when I'm supposed to O.... Since I may be off a little, do you think using an opk is a good idea to make sure that we don't miss the chance??

TTC immediately after BCPs
What did your doctor say? Mine wanted me to have one natural cycle first. This is my third cycle off bcp and have been having 34 day cycles. If I was trying my first month I would have been off about 6 days. I would probably start opk on cd 10. Good luck!

May I suggest meeting with your obgyn first. They will also prescribe prenatal vitamins and give you the all clear to TTC. Since you are just coming off the pill they usually want to wait a cycle or two to get those hormones out of your system. Good Luck

May I suggest meeting with your obgyn first. They will also prescribe prenatal vitamins and give you the all clear to TTC. Since you are just coming off the pill they usually want to wait a cycle or two to get those hormones out of your system. Good Luck
Already have been on prenatal a for a few months and have been cleared by my OB. They said as soon as you stop taking the pills the hormones are out of your body but could take a few months for your body to normalize. However, there's definitely a chane to get preg the forst month and its totally healthy. I would have liked to have waited a few cycles but for various personal reasons, we decided to start this month.
My question really is if I get my period on nov 21st, when should I start opk and when should we start BD?

this is a hard question to answer because you don't know how long your cycles are without the bcp.

Before the pill (12 years ago) I was extremely regular and had a 28 day cycle.
This is why I think I should use an opk just to see when I'm ovulating this month.

your best bet is to start using the opk on day 10 and everyday until you get a smiley face. once you get the smiley face you will most likely ovulate 12-36 hours after that so you want to bd the day you get the smiley and the following 2-3 days.
now since its the first cycle off the pill, you may not get a smiley face or it may come much earlier or later than usual until your body regulates.
i started using the opk the second month off the pill just to see when i ovulate, then officially tried in the third month and i o'd at pretty much the same time. so my body was regulated pretty much right away.

no i dont think so. bc in an ideal world if you had the ideal cycle you would get a smiley on day 12 or 13. so even if its early day 10 is still earlier.

My cycle always varied 25-28 days so I use to start on day 9. I remember using the ovulation calendar on webmd and would do the deed on those fertile days.
