Black spot on pups leg..

Two wonderful vets later and still no answers as to what it is. It is a black, flakey spot on my Mini Schnauzer's leg and is the size of a quarter. Has not gotten larger and is not raised. The surface is flakey and almost slightly shiny black. I was first given an antibiotic cream- no change. Then right before Sandy hit, I was given antifungal medication and a fungal biopsy was taken. The Dr insisted that it was "weird" but did not resemble cancer and she just turned 1 so she is not really in that bracket. He seemed very confused by it and wants to skin biopsy it if the fungal comes back negative. 3 weeks later, no change and our vet office was heavily damaged by the storm. I know they are taking emergency patients and I feel dumb requesting the biopsy at a time like this but I don't know what it is.
Anyone ever see something like this before? I can't post a pic bc I always have issues uploading from this computer but its flakey, black flat spot the size of a quarter on her thigh. No fur growing on it. Thanks!
