I'm going to have to say goodbye to my beloved Casey
My husband and I just found out that our pit Casey has a tumor in her spleen. It doesnt look good. We got two opinions, one for the emergency vet last night when she had labored breathing and could not stand and this morning from our vet. Both vets said that Casey could pass away any day or in a couple of weeks. My husband and I are devastated. We unfortunately cannot afford the surgery to remove the tumor and if its cancerous the chemo. I feel like such a bad pet parent. I can't stop crying.
My DH and I are going to discuss what we're going to do tonight. sigh

I know how much you love your dog. I am so so sorry to hear this. You are an amazing doggie mama and only you can decide what to do. I personally would not put my dog through chemo, no matter how much I would miss him or her.

how much does that surgery cost?
i thought i just saw something about the vet at west islips emergency vet hospital is the founder of some charity--ill look into it-
maybe you can get help with the cost of the surgery from somewhere??? rescues? I'm going to look to see if i can find something to help defray the cost----
are they doing a biopsy to determine if its cancerous?

Thank you so much, yesterday the founder of the rescue group we got Casey from contacted me and told us she would help try to see if she can find a vet to do the surgery and she set up a chip in for the surgery. I hope people will donate. I just posted a post with the link to the chip in. Link to Post
We don't know if its cancerous because they can only do the biopsy with the surgery. Our vet recommended an ultrasound ASAP even though its not 100% its cheaper than surgery.
Any help prayers, leads would be helpful.

I'm so sorry you have to do what is best for you guys and the dog. Sending you a ton a prayers I can only imagine how hard this is on you!!!

listen, all of us animal lovers have to stick together and pay it forward! i follow the to be destroyed list of the city shelters everyday-and your casey was saved once and will be saved again i am so glad you contacted your old rescue--they will be able to network for help!
