My Nikon D60 gets error message: "press shutter release button again" HELP!!!!
I got the camera 4 years ago and never had any issues!
Yesterday I started getting this error message...no matter how many times I click on the shutter. I tried changing battery, taking out memory card, turning on and off...but it still won't get off my screen and I can't take any pics!
I have been "googling" what this means and how to fix it...and I have read everything from call Nikon ...to taking off the bottom and fix a red wheel that is stuck with some wD40...
I really can't afford an expensive fix at a store OR a new camera...but with lots of holiday activities and my DDs 1st birthday this month I am freaking out that I won't have a camera..
Anyone have this issue before with their nikons and were you able to fix it?!
Thanks

My Nikon D60 gets error message:
WOW
I googled it and there's videos how to fix it. I am NOT looking forward to this happening to my D90. But it seems like normal wear and tear. I'd probably give the home fix a try but I'm that kind of gal. If not, then I'd take it to a camera place for a full on cleaning (something I've been meaning to do anyway) where they can REALLY give it a good cleaning and fix it too.
I've had my camera just at 4yrs. I've yet to have this issue but thanks for the warning and let me know which way you go.

OMG! I'm having the same issue!!! It's so bizarre- just happened out of nowhere.
I've been meaning to get it fixed but it's like $200 and takes a few weeks at Nikon.
I just had it repaired last year because a piece inside the viewfinder came loose and was moving around. They had it for over a month and it cost a fortune.

I haven't had the issue before, but I would drop it off at Nikon for an estimate on how much it is to fix. It may be covered under warranty.

Re: My Nikon D60 gets error message: "press shutter release button again" HELP!!!!
so my DH tried This guy's self help fix
DH took the bottom off....put some wd40 on this little red wheel...it took like 2-3 pics..then the error happened again...so we did it again...and same thing..error appeared after 2-3 pics...grrrr...
I called berger bros in melville..they told me to just go to Nikon headquarters also in melville. but my DH doesnt want to spend $$ esp if it is half (or more) the amt of just getting a new camera...but we cant really afford a new camera right now!
We'll see, I am prob going to take a trip out there anyway to see what they say..
and of course we are going to the Polar Express train ride this weekend...and this month is FULL of christmas stuff...and my DDs 1st bday...lots of photo ops...grrrr

1 year.
I had an extended 3 year 3rd party warranty. Even protected against drops.. RIGHT after it expired Delta smashed my bags and the camera. Boo

My Nikon D60 gets error message:
Try http://www.precisioncamera.com/ They're an authorized repair center. I have Minolta/Sony shooter friends who've used them with excellent results.

Did you try cleaning the silver area where your lens connects to the camera body? Not sure if it will help, but my Canon DSLR was taking blurry pics and that seemed to work to fix it.
Good luck!

Happened to me a few times- I took the lens off and on and it worked fine. I hope it's nothing serious :(

I agree. This seems to help for whatever reason: sometimes the connectors become loose. Try taking the lens off and putting it back on. This worked for me. Also, Nikon has a repair center in Melville.
