Ladies with IBS- coffee?
Do you find that coffee aggrevates your IBS symptoms?
As much as I don't want to believe it because I LOVEEEE my coffee, I find that when I don't drink it, my stomach is perfect that day.
And as soon as I drink it- my gut is just a mess! If I have to take the train to work I make sure to NOT drink any coffee before I get on the train for fear of a flare up.
I have been reading a lot online lately that coffee is one of the worst things for IBS- not just the caffeine but the coffee itself- even decaf is no good.
Anyone else find this?

Re: Ladies with IBS- coffee?
Coffee is a natural diuretic. It affects people with "normal" digestive tracts.
Try tea...see if that does it too.

I had tea this morning and my stomach has been a dream. Not to be gross but normally I'd be running to the bathroom 3 times already. I really am sad to say that I think I may have to kiss my coffee good bye!

Re: Ladies with IBS- coffee?
Coffee, and certain other hih caffeine drinks sent me RUNNING to the bathroom. If I eat with it sometimes it's not as bad, but honestly if I'm constipated, half a cup of coffee and I'm good.
I actually never drink regular coffee if I have somewhere to go at all that day. It messes me up that badly. Tea will do the same, and Diet Dr. Pepper for some reason (but not diet coke)

I can't even so much as smell coffee and I'm sick lol. Luckily I don't like it. If I do drink something in the morning it's green tea

Yes!! I love coffee too, but find that I can't drink it in the morning and definitely not before I eat anything for the day. Sometimes I can drink it in the afternoon or at night and be ok.

Ladies with IBS- coffee?
When my IBS was at its worst maybe ten yrs ago I gave up coffee for a long time. I kept a food journal and noticed coffee always made my stomach a wreck. Other things did too like onions and anything cooked with butter it seemed and especially alcohol. I eliminated various things and also took an rx and drank tons of water and I was so much better, but it did take a while.

I realized this today too. I always sort of linked them after having coffee at work but didnt think anything of it.
Went on vacation for 2 weeks, not a problem. Had coffee today at work and ugh. I drank coffee ON vacation without a problem though, so maybe it is just at work?
I think tomorrow I shall have starbucks coffee instead of work coffee to test this theory.

I find that I have problems when I combine coffee with stress/anxiety so maybe that is the connection for you too.

Re: Ladies with IBS- coffee?
You may want to try different coffee. Organic or sustainable.
If that doesn't work for you I think you will have to say sayonara to coffee.
Sometimes it's additives in the coffee.
I have no major issue with it but everyone is different. I have IBD.
