What do you buy that person who wants nothing, needs nothing....BUT they mean the world to you (i.e. A parent)
I'm so at a loss of what to get my mom.
I'm out of state, so a spa day is hard (plan to do when she visits around her BDay) she's not a "label" person My Step father passed away this year, so i dont want to do a restaurant certificate type thing.
I've done "grandma jewlery", flowers, redbox, edible, etc.
UGG.....anyone have any ideas?
(she doesn't want a kindle)

Not sure how far you live away from each other, but any chance you could schedule a weekend away with the 2 of you, maybe someone in between?

How about a magazine subscription? You could do a cute basket with slippers, a coffee mug, and the print out of the subscription or an one of the actual magazines. Amazon has some great deals.

Love the basket idea. Pampering herself kind of thing.
Also, there's a lot you can do with photos of your DCs.

My mom is like this. I make her a photobook of family photos I've taken throughout the year (she loves this) and I also buy her "fun" clothes she'd never buy herself.

She's planning to probably come down in march. So that sorta is a get-away for her.
I love photo gifts, but she has just about every nice picture ever taken of my family & she prints them all the time.
Every year I go thru this, because she won't give me a wish list.
She's in NY, I'm in NC.

Are there any NC foods or items she likes that she can't get in NY? Maybe send her some of those items along with a photo of the kids and a GC to something you can do together when she comes?

on shutterfly you can create a lot of nice mementos, including a photo book and calendar.

How about scheduling a photoshoot for HER with your kids for her visit?? I'm sure she will love the experience and cherish the photos. I'm sure your kids would appreciate having these pics as well when they are older.

My mom loves her ugg slippers, maybe a magazine subscription? Birchbox if she's into cosmetics? I like the weekend away idea too, just the two of you!

What about surprising her and coming to see her in NY? Maybe taking her to a show? Cinderella is coming to Broadway in February- maybe you can have your kids go, too. I know that gets pricey, but I believe the tix aren't too bad.

I was going to suggest this too, or buying her a ticket to come to you.

I love this idea! If this wouldn't work, I also love the idea of a photoshoot for her with the grandkids. I might even steal the photoshoot idea for my own parents next year!

I am not sure how much you are looking to spend but here are some ideas:
A bottle of her favorite perfume Clarisonic Ugg Slippers Ipad Designer Wallet SLR Camera
Anything that she wouldn't buy for herself!

I'm thinking about the photoshoot idea for when I come up again & include my sister & her kids. I'm just so afraid we won't have enough time to fit it in. Maybe waiting for when she comes down here, when I know we will have the time.
The broadway show is a GREAT idea, but if I can't guarantee a babysitter, while up in NY it might not work.

LOL I have to laugh over this. I have a Reisling from an NC vineyard I love, but that's about all we have here, that NYers can't get.

Re: What do you buy that person who wants nothing, needs nothing....BUT they mean the world to you (i.e. A parent)
In recent years I have gotten my mother a label maker and Christmas ornament boxes--she is THAT hard to by for. She doesn't like STUFF, and she doesn't like to go places. This year I am honestly just thinking of honoring her wishes to not buy anything. I know that my mother means what she says.
She only asked me to make my grandmother's cookie recipes, which I will attempt this year for the first time.
