sweet n sour meatballs
I want to make these for an upcoming party but I wanted to make with ground chicken or turkey...should I follow the same recipe that I use for ground beef?? 1 can chili 1 can cranberry sauce?? If yes how should I season my meat, the same way as my ground beef?

sweet n sour meatballs
I make "thanksgiving meatballs" with beef - one jan cranberry sauce and equal amount red/pasta sauce. I think if you are using the cranberry sauce, turkey would be good. You might want to make a test meatball (very small) and taste it before you make the whole batch.

Re: sweet n sour meatballs
Usually, when I cook/bake, I am all about homemade/doing it from scratch.
But with this meatball recipe, I buy premade frozen mini/cocktail meatballs -- I liked the Cooked Perfect brand (they come in a 2 lb bag, which equals 64 mini meatballs). I throw mine in the slow cooker, but even if you are doing them stovetop, they hold up really well ... they keep their shape (sometimes my homemade meatballs are softer and fall apart a bit) and are the perfect hors d'ourves size. Everyone raves about how good they are when I serve them! They have a few varieties - italian, swedish, turkey.
I usually do the swedish meatball flavor with 12 oz chili sauce and 12 oz concord grape jelly. But I've also made turkey meatballs with cranberry sauce and chili sauce. Using the pre-made meatballs makes this a very easy appetizer (but always a crowd pleaser).
If you want to make your meatballs from scratch, then I would alter the seasonings a bit from ground beef. Maybe you could add some typical turkey seasonings (e.g., sage) or just throw in some poultry seasoning.

I always use turkey, and just substitute it where ever the meat goes

It doesn't really take that long... my slow cooker heats up fast. I usually do around 4 hours on low, but I think you could definitely do less. The other day I forgot to put them in early and did them for about an hour on high and then an 1.5 hours on low.
The frozen meatballs are cooked already so you are just thawing and heating them in the sauce, and waiting for the sauce to meld together.
