Preg Crashing: My terrible OBGYN
Hi girls. I have been meaning to come onto this board and share my very negative experience with my OBGYN of 8 years, Dr. Sarah Schwartz in West Islip. Not only was I treated poorly by her office staff, but the doctor spoke down to me whenever she called and told me that I should go find another doctor who could answer my questions. And I didn't have any out of the ordinary questions.
The final straw was when I was admitted to the emergency room for emergency appendectomy at 9 weeks and she did nothing. Not so much as a call to follow up. I called her office from the emergency room to speak with her for assurance about this emergency surgery I needed, and her staff told me that she was in with a patient, and she would call me after hours. Which she didn't. My discharge papers said to follow up with my OBGYN in one week (from 1/21) and when I called her office, I receieved a call back from a receptionist the next day telling me I had to wait until 2/8 to see her, despite what my discharge papers said.
I promptly found another OBGYN who could see me that day and I love him! I called Dr. Schwartz's office to cancel and that is the end of that nightmare.
I am writing this not to scare any of her patients, because I have one girlfriend who swears by her, but to have everyone be aware of the problems I had encountered so no one else needs to deal with this baloney I did during this exciting time in my life.
Thanks for listening to my annoying preg rant!

im so very sorry you had a bad experience with her.. my mom also had a bad experience with her she has a ton of uterine fibroids that are very large and concerning.. she blew my mom off and never ever would call back with test results... we both now see comprehensive OB/ GYN in west islip and couldnt be happier.. let me know if you would like info. They are totally on their game and go above and beyond. i had a very long problem filled pregnancy with my dd and they couldnt have been better!

Re: Preg Crashing: My terrible OBGYN
That's TERRIBLE!!
I can't believe a doctor could be so inefficient. There's so many ethical issues here too. I'm disgusted for you.
this is def a doc I would like to say away from. I'm not doc hunting... but in general.
I find there are SOOOO many doctor's out there... some are fabulous and some are down right awful and really shouldn't even be a doctor.
I urge anyone who has bad experiences with a doctor to go out and find a new one... with all the options out there... this isn't something you should ever just settle with. Settle for a tablecloth etc but not for the person in charge of your medical status.

Preg Crashing: My terrible OBGYN
Hey ladies. I just had my 1st appointment with [email protected] Schwartz and well I was very disappointed. 1st I only met the father. And he was quick and didn't answer my questions. He said his daughter will take care of that. 2nd I was told that I wouldn't be able to see dr Sarah Schwartz until late jan. I would be 13 weeks preg by then. I find it hard to believe that they don't care enough to give me an earlier appt since I'm preg. Well I went home and did more research on them and found out that they aren't good doctors. They are rude quick and uncaring. Also they wanted to terminate a pregnancy and the lady switched doctors and now has a healthy baby. I'm not into that kind of care. What doctor do you recommend! Pls I am so nervous I won't find one!! My old doctor is out of network and i cannot afford him. I would do anything to have him back. Dr Laurence Mack. But I have to move on and find someone else. This is my second pregnancy. My lo is 9 months old. Thanks ladies

Preg Crashing: My terrible OBGYN
My best friend used her and she totally dropped the ball. There were inconsistencies in the baby's size from 35 weeks on. The baby was measuring around five lbs and her movement lessened. The Dr never sent my friend for further testing. The baby was born at 40 weeks weighing 5 lbs in change. The Dr said she was just small. Needless to say she missed the baby's heart condition. Thank god for attentive nurses, they realized something was wrong. Sure enough the baby had open heart surgery the next day. Thank god the baby is thriving today but the Dr really messed up. Good for you for following your gut and switching!

Preg Crashing: My terrible OBGYN
Hi, I'm having a similar issue with this office. I'm 10 weeks pregnant and had a sono at 8 weeks- they said she would call me back to schedule my 1st prenatal visit. Which they haven't. I spoke with the office today and they said they will call me by next week with an appt. and that she doesn't normally see you until 12 or 14 weeks. But isn't the Down syndrome screening between 11-13 weeks. And why should I have to follow up? Isn't that their responsibility? She delivered my first baby and I like her a lot but I'm nervous...

Omg these stories are horrible. My heart goes out to all of you. Perhaps she should be reported somewhere. She sounds borderline dangerous
