NYC teachers, or anyone with Medco
Does our insurance cover breast pumps? Anyone successfully get one? If so, can you share exactly who to contact? Thank you!

Re: NYC teachers, or anyone with Medco
I have my insurance through my husband who is a NYC teacher and I did not have any luck. I tried thru Medco and thru GHI. I think the only way they will cover it is under special circumstances (NICU, etc.) I even went thru the company recommended on here called Edgepark and they weren't able to get it covered either.
Sorry!

Same here....I am in the process of trying to get one now and I am a nyc teacher and due to a stipulation in the plan it is only covered if medically necessary like NICU

No luck for me. I tried GHI, Medco and Empire. My daughter was in the NICU and they didn't seem to care about that. They told me it is not a medical neccessity.

Re: NYC teachers, or anyone with Medco
I have Blue Cross with Medco for scripts. Mine was covered 100% and was not medically necessary. The first time I called they told me no so I called back and found out it was 100% covered so I got an $$ Medela. Sometimes whoever you get on the phone is clueless so try calling again!

Re: NYC teachers, or anyone with Medco
Try the welfare fund over GHI. Our Rx is covered through the welfare fund, who uses Medco to dispense it. I got specialized formula through the Welfare Fund, went to then for the Clearance, not Medco. The only difference was i had to go through a pharmacy, not the mail order Medco. The welfare fund has their own pharmacist. Call them and ask to speak with him and he could probably tell you if it would be covered.
