How long does your dog spend alone during the day?

DH & I both work FT. I work in the city and he works on the island. We'd love to adopt a dog, but feel bad that we're both gone all day (9/10 hours a day). How long does your dog spend alone during the day?

usually he stays for about 4-8 hours. We had an emergency once and he held it for 12 hours. He's also a big baby 125 lbs so he can hold it longer. For the most part though, not more than 8 hours.

Usually 4-5 hours alone if I am working and that will be only 2 weekdays. Weekends, DH is home and takes her out.

My dog is alone 8-10 hours a day. I have a dog walker that comes for an hour and walks and plays with him. On days I know we are going to be late I have her give him a kong full of food for a snack when she leaves.

We try to not leave our dogs alone more than 4 hrs at a time daily.

If you want to adopt, do not adopt a puppy or high energy dog. They cannot tolerate being home alone tool long. You would need to adopt a dog that sleeps alot and does not mind being alone.

Before I became a SAHM our dogs were alone usually about 9 hours a day.

I hear you. We both work in the Island FT. We are usually out by 9 and back around 6ish. I feel terrible, however the weekends are dedicated 100% to them.

During the work week, there are about 2 days a week they are alone for about 7 hours... but the rest is usually 5 hours. On the weekends, hardly ever alone. We have had cases where in an emergency they've been alone 10-12 hours...

It all depends on the day, anywhere from 8-11 hours 4 days a week (I'm off Wednesdays with him and DH is off Saturdays with him.) We leave a light and the TV on for him and make sure he has plenty of food, water and toys.

since she's a puppy we've been dropping her off at my inlaws each morning bc people are in and out throughout the day-she hasn't been alone for more than 3 hours so far

About 7-8 hours but he pees on a wee wee pad and his food and water are always out for him and he has his freedom so i never worry much about it being too long

10-12hrs. We adopted a 2yr old low energy dog. He seems content and rarely has accidents.

Once our mini schnauzer was housebroken he spent about 8 hours in the house by himself. When he got a little older, DH and I were both working in the city so was home alone for about 11 hours 3x per week. (DH works from home on M&F).

Last year around this time we got him a "friend" so we got a dog walker to come by mid day since we were both in the city and unable to come home during lunch like I was for our mini. So now they're alone from the time I leave in the morning at 9 until the walker comes at 1, he leaves at 1:30 and then I get home at around 5:15. So in total 8 hours a day 3x week.

We usually leave the house by 8:30, then have a dog walker come from 1-2 to walk and play w/ him, and then we're home by 7. We make sure one of us usually comes back by then, so he's never in the crate for more than 5 hours.

Currently my 7 month old puppy can stay for 6-8 hours as long as we keep her contained to a specific area and put a wee wee pad down.
On days we work over 8 hours we have a family friend come and walk her or bring her to pet sitting for the day.

5-6 hours we also have a dog walker come for an hour to walk and play with him. We have a automatic dog feeder for his lunch and I'm home by 4pm and DH leaves at 8:30am

When we were home from about 7:40am to 4:30ish...

Now since we are with my parents since Sandy shes rarely alone... for people that wouldnt let us have a dog my parents have really taken to taking care of Jessie while we are at work lol
