Bethenny & Jason - It's getting nasty already!
Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy are not seeing eye to eye as they begin divorce proceedings – most notably because both sides reportedly want primary custody of daughter Bryn.
Hoppy has responded to Frankel's divorce petition by demanding from the reality-TV star almost exactly the same things she is demanding from him, TMZ.com reports.
Both are seeking primary custody of Bryn, who will be 3 in May, as well as child support from their ex, along with money for other expenses, including insurance.
Both sides also want exclusive rights to their marital residence.
The Skinnygirl mogul, 42, who first became famous on The Real Housewives of New York City, split with Hoppy late last year after almost three years of marriage.
She later said she felt like a failure for not being able to make it work.
Hoppy has not commented publicly on the split, and neither his lawyers, nor Frankel's reps, immediately returned calls for comment.

I guess this doesn't surprise me. He really has no other identity outside of Mr Bethenny Frankel..... He has to get his balls back somehow.

Sorry but good for him. He never seemed like anything but a good devoted dad who loved his daughter. Why should it be automatic that she gets full custody.
I hope they find a nice way to split custody and that girl doesn' get stuck in the middle.

Exactly! I love him... her, not so much. That reality show was the worst thing they could have ever done. It really showed us how poorly she treated him and his family.

ITA, if she had any respect for him she would not have filed how she did. She is a heartless ***** but then what does he expect, she gave him and his family NO respect from day one. I do feel for him, I hope he gets joint custody and $$$ for his troubles and having to deal with her insanity.

Why can't they have shared custody? I don't get why people try to get sole custody unless the partner is a criminal or drug addict or something.

My only thought is that maybe he's afraid he will never see Bryn, Bethenny being vindictive or moving to LA and Bryn staying with her?

I don't agree with this at all. He seemed like a genuinely kind guy next door type with a wonderful family. He seemed like a great father. Honestly, why should she have full custody? What makes her any better than him? She works like an animal so it's not like she will be staying at home with Brynn - for all we know Jason is probably around a lot more. Not to mention, I could personally see why Jason wouldn't want her to be the primary custodian - she has some serious issues.

I feel sorry for him. He was always under her thumb and from day one she showed no respect for him or his family. He seems to be a really devoted dad who loves his daughter very much and he's probably afraid that if he doesn't get custody, she'll just move off to LA with Bryn and he'll barely see her or have any influence in her life.

Oh no no you misunderstood me. I don't think he's a bad guy at all. He put up with a ton of her BS! He didn't deserve half of the sh!t she slung at him.
He did say on the show numerous times he didn't feel like a man because he couldn't be the provider for the family, he felt she emasculated him.

Yeah I can see that. I'm glad he's fighting her on it; just a shame they can't both just easily have joint or split custody.
She appears to be such a control freak though (I'm that way, too) so I'm not surprised I suppose.

I feel like both moves must have been based on legal advice. There are always reasons behind the things people ask for even if they don't expect to get exactly what they ask for. That being said I think Jason is entitled to a lot more than Bethany may like. Didn't he essentially stop his career and start working with her? I think he has a good case in all areas. Hope it doesn't get too ugly for Bryn's sake. Too much of her parents' personal life is already out there in my opinion.

Basically I think people are legally advised to throw everything out there during a divorce and they see what "sticks" and what they can get out of the other person.

sole custody is different from primary custody...my mom had primary custody of my sister and i growing up and my dad had visitation rights...i think that's what it's about, right?

Why? Just curious we don't know what money he put into the house and if she makes much more money but he gets custody won't he need a place to stay with his child. I don't think it is an unusual.request to want the residence. I am sure his attorney is looking out for his interests. Also if he puts in for it they could sell it and sell the proceeds. If he put in a lot of money towards it and doesn't have much he might need that money. I don't think it is disrespectful without knowing a lot more details.

i dont care either way about this  but i thought if you had full custody the other person may have to pay more money or she wont have to pay as much money for child support ... could be totally wrong but i thought full custody affects the finacial aspects of everything.
