Please explain this to me
I have a few more lbs to lose. In an effort to kind of change things up, I:
stopped drinking coffee for a few days
switched to hot water with lemon
made smoothies with greek yogurt, frozen banana, and powdered greens
attempted to eat more proteins instead of my usual oatmeal as a mid-morning snack
didn't drink ANY alcohol
After a few days I noticed I was putting on weight. So I went back to:
drinking coffee
eating oatmeal
nixing the smoothies
and drinking wine
And now my weight is going back down.
What gives???

Maybe you upped your calories without realizing it? Eta: or....if it was only in a matter of days the coffee was a diuretic? The wine was dehydrating? If only in a matter of days, sounds like water weight.

Re: Please explain this to me
my DH always tells me if you eat too much protein you can actually gain from it if you're not working it off...so maybe that is it? good luck!!

Please explain this to me
I would give it more than a few days. You might not notice results right away but they look like healthy changes! I would also just double check your calories to make sure you haven't accidently upped them. Good luck!

That's the thing - I track religiously and when I add in the wine/coffee I am always over my 1200 limit by at least 200 cal.
I know I said only a few days, but this isn't the first time it's happened. I love smoothies and they keep my full for so long but I wonder if the sugar in the bananas has anything to do with it. I noticed that on my "healthier" days I was consuming like 3x the recommended amount of sugars, but I could't figure out how to lower them.

Re: Please explain this to me
I thought about the coffee as a dieuretic, but I drink a LOT of seltzer, so I am flushing out whatever is in my system no matter what.
I didn't know that about the protein, interesting!

Where did the 1200 cal limit come from? That just might be too low for you. I have seen it before myself - 1200-1300 and I didn't lose anything, up to about 1500 and weight started to come off. That extra 200 calories might just be your sweet spot!

I'm starting to think this is it. I totally forgot that before the holidays, i went up to 1400 cal and the weight came up much more easily. I don't really exercise at all, but I do have the kids to chase after so I must just be burning more than I thought.
Thanks so much everyone!

From what I am (at least starting to) understand, if your body is not getting enough food, it will cling on to extra lbs.. based on that, if you aren't getting enough calories, then I'm thinking that would happen.

I guarantee with the Greek yogurt and banana, you easily consumed an additional 30 grams of sugar in that alone. As soon as I read you made smoothies, i just knew what you were going to say.
I gave up Greek yogurt completely, because if the sugar in the plain.... Forget about the fruit ones. Actually, i do eat a brand called Noosa which naturally has less dufar and is delicious! I have it a few times a week.
Smoothies I have now taste horrible because they have the protein powder only. Nothing else. That's what I think may be doing it. I lost ten lbs just by giving up hidden sugar foods like yogurt, and i eat more calories. Sugar is a motherfukker. We don't realize how much of it we are eating!!!
