SA question about timing

Hi. I went my first RE appointment 2 weeks ago. I was told to wait until CD 1 to call and set up CD 3 blood work, other blood work, blood work for DH, HSG, and SA for DH. The RE said we can prob do everything on CD 3 except the HSG. I should get AF on Friday or Saturday this week. That would probably make our appointment on Monday if all works out. So my question is about the timing of the SA. We were told he should abstain 2-4 days. So does this mean we need to BD 4- 5 days before Monday? We bd yesterday (saturday) and if AF doesnt come I'm sure we won't bd again until next Saturday but if not should we BD on Thursday or Friday in case. Just trying to figure out the possible timeline so the sample is accurate. I feel like only having this Saturday bd would not be good.

What did you and your DH do before the SA timing wise?
Thanks for your help. Chat Icon

SA question about timing

We abstained from sex for 2 full days prior. So his SA was on a Friday we last had sex that Tuesday. No sex wed, thurs and his SA was that Friday.
You don't want the sperm to be immature. Thats why they say 2 to 3 days abstinence.

This.

They also told us the time before that shouldn't be an extreme time. So I would say sometime this week and then two full days before. They said 2-5 no kore than 5. Good luck

Thanks for the info. Just have to figure out timing bc I don't know when CD 3 will exactly be. So I guess if we bd on Thursday and I get an appointment for Monday we should be okay right?

Thanks. So we def have to BD this week bc we bd on Saturday and that would be over a week if we get an appointment for Monday. I'll try for Thursday to BD incase AF comes on Friday and then make an appointment for Monday. Does that make sense?

SA question about timing

Makes sense, but don't go crazy. I'm sure a week is ok. I took it as much longer than that. You will be fine! Good luck!!

I noticed you said that you still have to do hsg. I know your cycle has to be over for that. can't you then not have to do SA with CD3 blood work? since you' ll technically still be in the "work up" time frame? I'm just thinking that may make it less stressful in planning for the SA. just a thought.

Thanks! I have to do the CD 3 bloodwork and regular bloodwork. On CD 1 I have to schedule the HSG for CD 5-10 I think. The RE said I can still try to get pregnant the month of the HSG. I guess we could do the SA after CD 3 but I guess i was trying to get everything done for both of us on CD 3. My DH has to get bloodwork done too. I guess if the timing doesn't work out he can do the SA another day after CD 3. Thanks. I guess I'm more worried about him doing the SA then me doing all these tests...weird right?
