how did you pick the date you wanted??

im 39+ weeks and just came from my doctor....no progress. I know that can change in an instant (which i hope it does) but she has me coming in on monday for another appt where she wants me to have a date that I want to get induced.
i want to tell her the latest date possible in hopes that it happens naturally. im just curious are there reasons you specifically picked the date that you picked for your induction or csection?

edit to add: the latest day my dr will allow is the 22nd which is fine for me...however the only date that i would consider earlier would be the 16th bc it was my grandfathers birthday and i was very close to him.

I had a FAILED induction a week before X-mas. My Dr said baby was ready and figured I wld not want to be in hospital for the holiday. Dec 13 was the day (I also think Dr schedule has a role in date) but after 8hrs on Pitocin NOTHING happened, I was offered a C-section but I declined and went home :(. 10 days later my water broke and my DD was born 12/23!! So worth that wait (if you can). She was 3 days late.
My first baby was 10 days late and it was around Thanksgiving so Dr said the Friday after would be induction day (again avoiding holiday hospital stay) BUT my water broke day before Thanksgiving..lol!!!! inductions just did not work out for me. Good Luck!!

I would wait and hope for things to go naturally. My friend just had a VBAC baby at 42weeks 4days. My theory after having a C/S and now hoping for a vbac, baby will come out when its ready

I've had three c-sections. The first was unplanned.

The second was on my due date (I was going to try for a VBAC) and I liked that because it didn't feel like I chose the date, it was like God had already chosen it, KWIM?

I was given a choice for my third. Either the 22nd or the 26th. I just liked the #26 better, but the 22nd was more convenient for us scheduling and childcare-wise, so we chose that. Wouldn't you know, the doctor had a conflict, so it did turn out to be the 26th!

Also, I'm weird with numbers. So I choose the ones I "like" better.

But this is how I really feel. I HAD to choose a date in my circumstance though...

thanks ladies - i was leaning towards the same thing (waiting til the very end). MY doctor wants me to pick a date between week 41 and 42 (she wont let me go past week 42).
I can wait until the 22nd which would be the latest she would allow...but then i was thinking of picking the 16th because it was my grandfathers birthday.

I'm crossing my fingers for you that baby decides to come out before the day you pick GOOD LUCK EITHER WAY!!!

ITA with waiting as long as possible (unless, of course, you or the baby have health concerns). If everything looks ok, just let them cook. A healthy baby is more important than an attachment to a specific date, KWIM?

At my 39 week appt with my DS, I had zero progress and the baby was in an odd position. After a terrifying 5 minutes of not being able to find his heartbeat, my OB finally found it and asked if I wanted to do the c-section tomorrow or the following week. I said tomorrow. My DS was born 9lbs 3oz so he was pretty squished and I did not want to go another week and be in panic mode.

Dr wanted to induce right away, but I wanted to wait to see if he came on his own. The dr told me when she was on call next, which was the date we wound up going with-- it was my mom's bday. Part of me felt weird about it, but she said it would be fabulous, so now LO & my mom share a bday!!!

I would definitely wait! Your baby is just not ready to come into the world yet but it won't be long trust me I am due march 29th for a c-section and this will be my 3rd c-section but I have no choice because I can never dilate past 5cm. I honestly think you should tell your doctor you want to wait. Trust me before you know it your water might break... Do a lot of walking even if you have to walk back and forth in your house that will help. It caused my water to break with my first baby and I went 42 weeks until my water broke. Just keep in mind that inductions do not necessarily happen quickly. I was induced on a Wednesday at 6am and I didn't have my baby until Thursday at 8:30am.

i think we may start the induction on 2.15 if she doesnt come on her own before that.
