Something I'm doing that other weight-loss journey people here may want to do, too
Maybe this will help someone.
My weight had slowly creeped up through the years, and one time I caught it as the scale was going up, and dropped the weight. I felt great, looked good, loved buying new clothes...
..........but I kept all my old "bigger" clothes. Hung them in the back of my closet.
Well, I ended up needing the bigger sizes, because I gained the weight back.
Now I'm back on track and lost 10 lbs so far. I know that THIS.IS.IT. It's now or never. This is the time.
Today I threw out my first pair of "old" jeans. They have become baggy.
I plan to donate any "big" clothes I have as I lose weight. Every 10 lbs, I plan to donate X amount and maybe buy 2 new things as I go along.
I feel like if I keep them, it's almost like I'm telling myself I COULD fail and need them again as a safety net. Like I don't trust myself.
But maybe by not having them in my closet, I will keep going forward and know I must maintain or continue losing. Plus, it will be a nice treat to get some new items in lower sizes as I purge the old.
I feel like it kind of sets a tone for real change that will be forever. Not just temporarily.
Just wanted to share here in case this strikes a chord with anyone else who is on this journey, too. I know I've read a lot of good tips here from you guys!

This is wonderful! I went through all my clothes after Sandy struck. It was an opportunity to help others and purge of clothes I planned on never fitting into ever again. I've done this in the past and donated to places like Salvation Army and women's shelters in Brooklyn but many of my things went to friends of friends this time around. I still have more to get rid of...but I'm afraid to get rid of the clothes that are 1 size bigger than I currently wear....I can go on a sodium binge and easily be up 10 pounds overnight and then my jeans don't fit LOL
Congrats on throwing out that pair of jeans!!! You are on your way!!!

I did that last time and when I gained the weight back, I was sad not to have all the old clothes that I liked. This time I kept them. They're upstairs, locked away, and I hope I never need them again. But if I do, at least I'll be a well-dressed fat person!

I definitely did this! It forces me to be accountable and not let myself go again, especially since we are on a budget and I don't want to blow it on clothes.
However, I'm an idiot and after 2 kids (and 25 extra lbs) I tossed all my nice clothes, figuring I'd never lose the weight. There were some awesome pants that I could cry over never seeing again
ETA: I never loved any of my "bigger" clothes so it was a huge relief to get rid of them!
