Anybody DC have erythema multiforme?

My DS is 3, he broke out in hives that over a day covered his in tire body the dr said it is erythema multiforme most likely from the antibiotic he was on. He has put on a steroid for 5 days to help just wondering if anybody has dealt with this and how long it went on before clearing? :(

My son is going through this now. We are not 100% sure if it is this or a penicillin allergy. It has come back 3 times now in two days. Extreme swelling in face that is bright red and hot to the touch. Also outbreak all of his body.
ER says allergy to the antibiotic, pediatrician leaning towards Erythema Multiforme.

Has anyone else had this and it keeps coming back. My son on steroids and Benadryl.

My son gets it as an allergic reaction to the herpes virus that causes cold sores. He breaks out in gum ball sized bumps that last 4 to 5 days. It reoccurs whenever the virus flares in his body. It's hideous looking, but doesn't bother him.
