I'm reading it now. I keep hearing about what an important book this is, but I'm really struggling to get through it. Anyone else read it? Please tell me it gets better.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble!

About 10 years ago, I struggled through it too. I was bleary-eyed and miserable reading it, but kept thinking that I "needed" to read it. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

I will say that the last 200-300 pages were good, but I really could have done without it.

You are definitely not bursting my bubble, I feel the same way that I "need" to read it. I have it on my kindle, I have been reading it for WEEKS and I'm only about 20% through. I may just have to resign and put it down, because I'm not enjoying it at all.

You're lucky it's on your kindle. I read it before kindles and lugged a 5 lb paperback that I hated around for weeks! Chat Icon

Re: Atlas Shrugged

I had a boyfriend in college who was a HUGE Ayn Rand fan/follower

He urged me to read The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and because he was so into it and i wanted to know what he was all excited about, i read both books.

They were hard to read, i'll say that.
Interesting books, but definitely difficult to read if you don't follow her philosophy IMO

Re: Atlas Shrugged

That was the ONE AND ONLY book in college lit courses ( and I took at lost as an English major) that I read 1 chapter and falt out refused to read the rest.

Can't recall how I did a paper on it and passed though but I could care less if I failed. It was horrible!
