Let's talk grassfed beef and dairy...
We have been trying to make more conscientious decisions about what we eat. We can't cut out animal products completely, but we want to choose grass-fed, local, certified organic, humane options where possible.
As a newbie, I've been doing some research online and it seems a lot of these dairy companies will supplement grass-fed with grains during winter since supplies are lower during that time. However, we'd prefer year round grass-fed, if at all possible. The brand "natural by nature" seems promising (but where is it sold?). If anyone has other suggestions, that'd be appreciated!
Where do you buy 100% grass-fed (year round) beef and dairy (specifically milk) in the LI (Nassau) or Queens area? Who sells it cheapest (I know the stuff can be expensive)?
Any thoughts, ideas, or any veterans want to chime in with more info on the topic.... it would be greatly appreciated!

I live in Florida so I can't help you with places that sell grass fed beef or dairy, but check out eatwild.com.

Whole Foods sells both grassfed beef and dairy products.
ETA: It is certainly more pricy but worth it imo.

Yes, they sell kerrygold at trader joes. Haven't researched Natural by Nature completely but they sell it at Fairway.

We don't eat often because of the price but whole foods do sell grassfed beef. We buy kerrygold cheese from Cotsco. Best price ever. $6.99/lb. At the stores it's $4.99 per 4oz. For milk I don't buy grassfeed yet. This would cost substantially more money so for now it's just organic. Once ds is out of daycare, I will probably switch to grass fed since our milk consumption would be greatly reduced.
edited to say i buy kerry gold butter at whole foods and it's a great price as well. $2.99 for 8oz.

Fairway has their own organic grass-fed milk that is not completely horrific in price, and it does occasionally go on sale.

Re: Let's talk grassfed beef and dairy...
I buy grassfed dairy products from the following vendors: I don't eat meat.
- Natural by Nature ( milk is unhomogenized and only lightly pasteurized) - Sky top farms ( milk is unhomogenized and only lightly pasteurized) - Rooneybrook farms ( milk is unhomogenized and only lightly pasteurized) - Seven stars farms
According to these companies websites, 85-90 % of the cow's intake is grass. They supplement with grains during the winter months for the sake of the cow's health. My mom grew up on a small farm and said this was always what was done with her cows. ( they were fully-pastured)
