Stop this ride, I want to get off-Prayers needed
Went to OB on Wednesday for my monthly check-up. I just did the nuchal fold the Friday before so I didn't think it would be much of a meeting, as I didn't think blood results would be back. I posted last week that sono looked good, and nuchal measurement was good. My doc was concerned that the blood testing might be wrong since I am measuring 1 week behind, she wasn't sure whether the lab would use the gestational age of 13 weeks or the baby's measurement of 12 weeks. She did another ultrasound just to check measurements again. I am still exactly 1 week behind. They were able to use the femur this week which is supposedly more accurate then CRL. Not seeing anything concerning on scan, baby has nasal bone, they can see some of the organs, brain is showing two hemispheres. Doc and I agreed that since we don't know how accurate the nuchal results will be, that I should do the Materniti21. She gave me the number for a place that does it and said she was going to call the lab that does the nuchal fold blood testing to find out more tomorrow and she would call me with the info. She also asked to see me again in the office next week.
Yesterday I was able to get an appointment for the test. I thought it would just be a quick blood test but it was a thorough genetic counseling session. From the time I called at 9 am to make the appointment to the actual appointment at 12, they had all my records from my doc AND the results of the NT blood work. Not good news at all. My odds for DS were great, but I have a greater that 1:5 chance for Trisomies 13 and 18. I am devastated. They were wonderful and incredibly thorough and discussed my entire family history and options for going forward. Although the Materniti21 has excellent detection for DS, it's reliability for Tri 18 is not as strong, around 95%, and even lower for Tri 13, at 85%. Amnio or CVS are still considered to be the only diagnostic tests. Since I am past the time for CVS, and still have time before I can do an amnio, I opted to take the Materniti21 to get more data. Waiting another 3 weeks with no info is unimaginable for me. And although I didn't want to go there, I guess I will have the amnio, since the odds of MC are less then my odds having Trisomy (greater than 20%).
I can't believe with all I have been through to get here, I have to deal with more. I really am getting to the point where I can't take it anymore. Having to be faced with such dreadful news and having to entertain all these scenarios is exhausting. I just want to be done with it. I know the NT results are just a screening, and that the alternative interpretation is that I have almost an 80% chance that the baby is fine. My doc did call me yesterday as promised after she spoke to the lab and is so incredibly supportive and reassuring. She told me that she has seen tons of results like mine where they baby was fine, and she herself had a 1:2 chance of problems on her own NT (and her baby was fine). Still, knowing all this, it is so difficult to be hopeful. These situations never seem to work out in my favor.
Thank you for hanging in with this long post. I feel you ladies here are the only ones who really understand this torment. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that this time all will end up ok.

I am so sorry you are going through this... but you are 12-13 weeks... you can do a CVS... have you spoken to your dr about it? You are totally still in the time to do it.
Good Luck!

Re: Stop this ride, I want to get off-Prayers needed
Based on my IUI date, I am 14 weeks, baby measuring around 13. I did speak to my doc and I think it's too close to the end point to do CVS.

Stop this ride, I want to get off-Prayers needed
Hi....I just wanted to give you some hope. My risk for Trisomy 18 was 1 in 7 and for DS was 1 in 185. I ended up having an amnio done...and the results came back normal and I ended up having a healthy baby boy. Please dont give up hope. Praying for you that things work out.
