Baked Ziti -- question about ingredients
Hello, for one box of Ziti (16 ounces), how much ricotta, mozzarella, chop meat, and sauce would you use to make baked ziti? TIA for any help!

Re: Baked Ziti -- question about ingredients
I usually use the recipe on the ronzoni box and have twice the amount of sauce available.

Re: Baked Ziti -- question about ingredients
there is usually a baked ziti recipe that i use on the side of the ronzoni ziti box. If not, google ronzoni baked ziti and i am sure it will be there. (dont have the box handy now)

Re: Baked Ziti -- question about ingredients
The ronzoni box only calls for half the box of ziti...if I wanted to use the whole box, would I double the amount of everything?? Seems doubling the amount of all ingredients may be too much? Thoughts?

Baked Ziti -- question about ingredients
doubling the ingrediesnts sounds about right. Cant have too much cheese in my book :) I dont measure when I make this but I always OD on the ricotta and cheese and sauce. It also makes you less likely to dry it out

Re: Baked Ziti -- question about ingredients
A box of ziti, I'd say to mix in one of them big tubs of ricotta; (first, mix the ricotta with an egg, parmasean cheese, parsley, garlic powder, & onion powder). I usually use 1 1/2-2 blocks of mozzarella cheese shredded on top b/c my husband loves it like it. As for sauce & meat, making a meat sauce, I'd use 1 1/2 lbs of meat; as far as the jar sauces, I'm not sure, because I always make my own sauce.

Re: Baked Ziti -- question about ingredients
I do this one, via my mom:
1 lb. ziti 2 lbs. ricotta 1/2 lb. mozzarella Sauce Add a beaten egg, salt, pepper, parsley flakes, a little garlic powder and a little grated cheese to the ricotta. Mix well. Add a little sauce...maybe one or two ladles, not much. Cover bottom of a 9x13 pan with sauce add half the pasta then add half ricotta and top with half the shredded mozzarella (you can either layer it this way or add mozzarella to the ricotta mixture) then top with sauce and repeat the layer. I usually put a little mozzarella on top. cook at 350 for approximately 30 to 45 mins. Could be longer just look for bubbles on the side or cheese good and melted, it's better if you let it sit for 15 minutes or so to give it time to settle
I don't bother with layering it. I just put it in a big bowl and mix it all up, then top with sauce and more Mozzarella.
