You can always check out letsrun.com. It is a message board for running. If you have specific questions, feel free to post them here. My DH and I are avid runners and I could help with training (like workouts) and racing tips.

Awesome great!
I'm getting ready for my 1st 10k in May. I want to shoot for a 1/2 sometime within the year.
I want to basically learn more about preventing burnout, nutrition, etc.

What is the course like? Are there lots of hills? How much can you comfortably run now?

Re: Rec your Running Resources for Information
get the book "run less run faster" great training plan in there! (you are not really running less mileage-wise but less days a week)

I feel like my progress is going slow. I got into a car accident in Nov & returned to working out in Jan. So I'm really being cautious to not aggravate my neck, shoulders, & lower back. I see some programs that add a mile a week, and either I'm doing something wrong, or I need/want more conditioning before I push 1 more on (does that make sense?)
BUT my knee lately has been sensitive (lower inside part below the cap), so I'm trying not to irritate it too
I ran 7 miles today (most ever in my life!) Typically I get to run 3-4 times a week. Varies with whether I can get 4-5 days a week, & incorporate strength too.
I love the feeling of running, but I'm thinking I might need to incorporate maybe some elliptical & rest the knee a little? I like to run for the feeling, which is why I've NEVER done a race & scheduled routine before. But now I have an itch to add the goal.
ETA: the 10k is at a local vineyard, not too hilly/steep (clearly it has a nice reward at the end )
