IVF RSoNY?
Trying to get my ducks in a row just in case...
Anyone had IVF at RSoNY? Where can I find their statistics? Would you change REs to do IVF? We are paying OOP so if IUI doesn't work this month, and with the high cost, I just want to be sure I am with a RE with a good success rate. I use Dr Lydic RSoNY Stony Brook and I do feel confident with him, I just never researched IVF there.
TIA

Re: IVF RSoNY?
I have the information somewhere at home (will get it for you)regarding the success rates there. I actually switched to them from North Shore. I did 1 fresh cycle then 1 FET and got my BFP off the FET. The thing I like about their practice is if it isn't working (protocols) they will try other options. After my failed fresh cycle my Primary RE (TRIVAX) made sure that he would do my transfer instead of any other doctor and scheduled it accordingly.
I also found that my out of pocket for the actual cycle was nothing. Only thing I had to pay was a small amount for the anesthesiologist. I must have receipts for $7000 out of pocket from NSUH. If you are totally out of pocket they will work out payment options and plans for you.

I had my first ivf there and it was a success. Although I go to mineola. I think all procedures are done in mineola ??? I love them there and feel like I'm getting the best treatment as possible. We also paid OOP and they were great w tryin to find donated meds and such. All the best to you!

Do you mind me asking, how can the doctor guarantee to be the one to do the transfer-how do they work out that scheduling? I have done two IVF cycles-both BFN, but for my first retrieval I had a female doctor (not sure of her name-out of Mineola) and then Dr. Trivax did my transfer. Second month Dr. Trivax did both my retrieval and transfer. I really liked him and felt much better after he did the retrieval. I would love to make sure he was the doctor that did my next retrieval as well.

When you go in for your first cycle appt you can request to speak with Dr. Trivax and then let him know you want to schedule both procedures with him. They usually know their schedule and/or you can have it put in your file by the NP that day & they are usually able to accommodate unless a dr is on vacation or away for a few days.

Wow I didn't know that! I usually go to West Islip and deal with Dr. Stelling, but he has never been in Mineola when I was there for my retrievals or transfers.

Re: IVF RSoNY?
I am a patient of Dr. Stelling (for genetics purposes) and am a mineola patient. I NEVER see him anymore since San Roman left. He is always in Stony Brook or West Islip. I love Dr. Sung and Dr. Trivax.
As for scheduling of FET, they will accomodate for that. Those are flexible. If you have a certain day that you want, they will help you there also. FET's are very flexible.
I love RS! They are factory like, but I think they know their stuff. I have DD from them 3 1/2 years ago, and I just found out yesterday I am pg again (Trivax said most likely twins!).
Good Luck!!!

IVF RSoNY?
AugustMom--
I do feel that way at least with RS. You never know which doctor is in that morning when you have monitoring, and any of that that are in will review your chart and make a decision. Now, you can ask them to have your dr review the results, and I do know that all the dr's talk. For example, Dr. Stelling had heard the results from my beta and took the time to call me to say congrats, even though I was at mineola and he is in SB! And i do know that you can ask for your dr to review the results too. They will fax, email or call wherever they are.
When it comes time for retrieval since you can't "schedule" when it is, it is very difficult to control who does it.
You can however choose who you want your primary dr to be, and whenever you need a consult, you would see that dr.

Re: IVF RSoNY?
I did IVF at RSoNY after a few IUIs with them and it worked for me the first go around.
San Roman I think did my retrieval but Dr. Trivax (our primary Dr) did the other parts and was always available for calls. Typically, we did see our own Doctor in the mornings but that may just have been scheduling or the way it worked out.
I do not know their success rate, but if we have to do this again, I know I would definitely go back.

IVF RSoNY?
I have been with RSofNY since 2007... I did many IUI's (10 to be exact) and all 3 IVF Cycles were with them. I have my 2.5 year old son from my first IVF and my 3 wk. old son from my 3rd IVF. We had MIF DNA Frag. diagnosed in May 2012 right before my 3rd IVF :) IVF/ICSI with #1 & #2 PICSI/ICSI with #3 pregnant on first transer and 5 frozen embryos.
Saketos is my FAVORITE I have been seeing her the entire time I have been there. There has not been 1 appointment that I didnt get to see/speak with her, she always takes her time and I LOVE HER. Trivax is great "Doogie Howser" and Stelling is awesome (he did my Lysis of Adhesion Surgery). Sung is a cold fish(Im not a fan of her bedside manner) but she is brilliant. I dont feel like it is a factory at all, in fact, I feel the opposite. But everyone has different experiences. I love the nurses there too...they are all amazing...
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Re: IVF RSoNY?
We will be getting IVF at RSoNY. My DH has mf infertility and that was the recommended option for us with ICSI. We just finished with my monitoring cycle and so far everything is going well with my tests. After several tests I have a regular cycle, I am ovulating on my own, was told that I have many good follicles and have a very healthy lining. It wasn't an easy decision, I am still very scared of what is in store for us. We do have excellent insurance that will cover everything. I am a teacher and have Empire NYSIP. I will be starting my treatments at the end of June so that it can be less stressful without being tied up at work. We are seeing Dr. Trivax and when we first met him we really liked him. I hope that he is able to do both retrieval and transfer. We have our next appt. with him at the end of March and I am so anxious to learn more about our protocol. We also signed up for NP appt., injections class and IVF orientation. I can't wait for June to be here!!!
