How would you answer this?

I've been asked at least 3 times now if my twins are "Natural"... Chat Icon my kids will be as "natural" as anyone else's. WE may have needed medical assistance to get (and stay) pregnant, but to ask if THEY are natural? I don't get it...
I guess they mean to ask if twins run in the family... but that's not what they ask.
Ijust look Chat Icon I'm sure b/c I'm not sure how to answer.
I've started telling them that actually both DH and I have cousins who have twins (forget the fact they're all thru IVF as well!)... but it just boggles my mind...

I would just come straight out and ask them what they mean by "natural"?

Agreed. They asked an uncomfortable question, I'd make them feel uncomfortable too, because that's just rude!

Although I would assume that my 'natural' they mean were they conceived naturally or with treatments. It's such an intrusive question to ask someone how they conceived. It's like if you have twins and someones says "so did you have to get on top for that to happen?"

Thanks ladies! I won't even tell you the questions I told DH I was going to start asking them back.. Chat Icon Chat Icon It always annoyed me when people felt they had the right to ask me certain questions-- I used to tell DH I was going to ask them about their sex lives and positions, etc... to show them how inappropriate some of their questions are! Chat Icon If only I were more forward lol...

I was recently asked if my twins (Im almost 30 weeks) were natural, so I responded with "as opposed to synthetic? I'm not sure what you mean." the person did know what to say and the conversation ended there. Chat Icon

Good one !

My answer depends on my mood and relationship to the person asking.

I have replied

" as natural as you or i !"

"no they are aliens"

"no, what gave it away"

"they are IVF babies!"

"Funny, I was thinking the same thing about your (hair color, teeth, boobs, nose...)!"

But my hormones have made me far less tolerant and way more bitchy ;)

I get asked this question just about every other day. I just say yes bc I have no desire to go into such detail with strangers. People are just so freakin' rude!

Love your response and congratulations on the twins!! If I am ever lucky enough to get pregnant and have twins, if someone asks me that question, my response would be .. Yes they are natural, I have heard about genetically modified fish and mosquitoes but didn't know they make genetically modified babies too.

After we were married I got bombarded EVERYDAY with "When are you guys going to have babies?" Which we were TRYING but it wasnt working...for many years...I decided to be very open about it which helped me trenendously...but when people would ask "When are you having babies" I would alwways respond "We are actually having a lot of issues getting pregnant and going through a lot of fertility" (with a crooked smile) which made them feel SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE, TOTALLY NERVOUS AND SPEECHLESS, and then they would apologize for asking...so be it since they asked...lol...
So when we finally did get pregnant no one really said anything...

People used to ask me if "my boobs were REAL"...Id always laugh and say "Yes, REAL EXPENSIVE"...
F*&K'em, you own NO ONE an explaination!
