Recommendations for sensory integration facilities

can anyone recommend a place where they had their child tested for a sensory integration disorder? Also, did your child get services and if so were they helpful? Tia!!!!

Where are you located? My son goes to a sensory gym in Massapequa, between that and the sensory breaks he is now receiving at school, it has made a world of a difference.

My son was very defiant in school and at home -horrible tantrums, throwing things, hitting, yelling etc - outside of the range of 'normal'. He was also fidgety but it didn't impact his grades at all so his teacher didn't think it was ADD/ADHD but I suspected it was something sensory. We ended up getting him diagnosed with ODD from a psychologist which helped get us an IEP, however I really don't think anything the psychologist did helped much. Since the day I showed up with the independent eval from OT and he started getting sensory breaks every hour to help with his sensory seeking behavior it made a drastic turnaround in his behavior - he's learned to control most of his outbursts and accept disappointment without blaming it on everyone else. If we let it go too long without a sensory break he gets overstimulated and can't control his emotions.

As soon as I had called the sensory gym and requested an evaluation and they started asking me if he purposely crashed his body in to things, liked watching TV upside down etc, I knew we were much closer to an answer for helping him.
