DIR floortime
 Needs some help. My grandson is autistic but high function. His biggest problems are in sensory issues. He will be 4 at the end of April. He has been with ABA teachers and speech therapists since he was 2. One of his teachers seems to think he needs something new. Told me to look into DIR floor time. Has anyone done this for their child yet. Need to find someone or somewhere in Nassau or Suffolk Counties who does this. If anyone could provide me with any info I would really appreciate it. I don't know anyone on the island who is a DIR person, but the OT I work with worked at Rebecca School and has presented for years with Gil Tippy (the Director of Rebecca School) and she does some floortime stuff with my class, and its awesome, and there is finally some good research in the field about its success (which was one of the criticisms of it for a long time-not research based). Good luck finding a floor-time therapist! It can really reach some kids!

The OT at my school said that Gil Tippy has a private practice on LI....not sure where, but might be worth looking into.

Thanks for all the help from everyone who responded to my question. My daughter has already gone to Dr Tippy"s office on LI. but the Rebecca school is just to far away. The man has just been so helpful. My daughter confers with him all the time. Also Kimberly from Hofstra has just contacted my daughter. She just had surgery and it took her a while to catch up with all her messages. She will be in contact with my daughter as soon as she can get back to work. As a grandma who loves her grandson and is trying to help out her daughter who is just inundated in her search for whatever help may be available. Thanks again and any other suggestions are greatly apppreciated.
