Putting the cart before the horse but talk to me about Immune Disorders
So after 2 chemicals in two months plus two other losses in my life (4 in total) I'm having a RPL panel run tomorrow by RMA.
I have a few questions. Can you develop this after you have a successful pregnancy? 3 of my losses were after DD was born?
I asked the nurse at RMA yesterday what do they do if there is a problem and she said usually extra folic acid and baby aspirin. For this loss I was on baby aspirin already after transfer. They don't believe in intralipids.
I know it depends on what type of problems and I know some people use intralipids, lovenox, etc. Who tells you what to use...the RE? Thanks.

i know most of the "factory" fertility centers do not believe in immune issues. i dont even think they test for many of the things, aside from thrombo issues, that REs who treat immune issues check for. i know sirm in nyc and braverman test for and deal with immune issues.

Re: Putting the cart before the horse but talk to me about Immune Disorders
my RE and hemotologist worked together and finally after the right combo of meds i was able to hold on to a pregnancy and had my twins
it took a rpl panel, a thrombo panel a blood clot and stay in the hospital and 3 losses to figure it all out
what worked for me was a very high dose of lovenox(200 mg) metnax and baby asprin
my body clots way more than the average person

honestly i doubt RMA does a real complete immune workup. you probably need to go to either dr. b or SIRM to get a real immune panel done. most REs/OBs just test the basic thrombo panel and not much else. they dont really know what they are looking for or how to treat it - as a pp said most do not believe in immune rejection of pregnancy. you might want to consider a different doctor if you believe that immune factors are causing your losses. good luck.

Putting the cart before the horse but talk to me about Immune Disorders
Thanks everyone. They did run a RPL panel on me. I 'm just wondering if immune disorders can manifest themselves after pregnancy? I do have DD conceived via IVF and had no problems carrying her to term. 3 of my losses have been after I had her. Does anyone know if it's possible to develop issues after the fact or am I just running a streak of bad luck?
Also does anyone know if I can go to SIRM just for immune issues (if I do have them) and do IVF at RMA? I ask because my insurance does not cover SIRM but does cover RMA. Thanks.

Re: Putting the cart before the horse but talk to me about Immune Disorders
Dr. B no longer does consulting while you cycle else where.
But, I agree you need to do yourself a favor and go somewhere where they can deal with recurrent pregnancy loss. RMA really can't offer that. I know, I was also a patient there. Turns out I have elevated NK cells. From what I have been told by people it can develop after you have had a baby but also that it can get worse with each loss.
You can go consult with one of the RE's that deal with immune issues. Get tested and decide from the results what you want to do. You are not obligated to do a cycle if you get tested. You'll loose some time but it will be worth it. It may come back nothing, but based on what you said I think you will find something. Dr. B has a safe testing program with Reprosource...you pay an amount based on what kind of insurance you have (you pay around $450, and meanwhile the testing is close to $4,500). If your insurance pays it 100%, you get your money back. I have gotten my money back (unless its early in the year and I have not met my deductible yet - that is Oxford by the way).
Good luck and sorry to hear of your losses.

Re: Putting the cart before the horse but talk to me about Immune Disorders
When I asked at RMA about immunology, I got a terse email from my nurse to consult with Sami David.
I had my work-up done in Chicago with Dr. Kwak-Kim. That was the only place I knew where I could keep my RE and test for immune problems. Also, only some mainstream REs will work with an RI's medication protocol.
