Newborn photo gripe
I hired Gina Marie arts for newborn and maternity photos based on recommendations from people on this chat board. I had my maternity shoot with her ( great photos but never go to her home studio, her house is filthy). Then my baby was born and I emailed her about doing the shot which she said would be done within his 1st week of life. I never received a response until after a week, so we scheduled a shoot for almost 2 1/2 weeks after he was born. We had our house already and the baby ready for the shoot and she never showed up. A half hour after she was supposed to be here she emailed me to say she was sick and not coming. I response to reschedule and I never received an email back. I decided that with no response that she wasn't going to do them and asked for my prints for my maternity photos ( the only things I got from her were photos on her website, no prints no cd, I pd 250 for nothing basically). Oh and to top it off it tools her months to even put my photos on her website. I am angry bc I never got the cute newborn photos done for my first child that I wanted. I would never recommend her for newborn photos. I am so mad and disappointed.

WOW...that's all i have to say. I do newborn photography on the side and that's just horrible. I would post a bad review in so many places. This is not fair and horrible business. I feel terrible and wish i knew earlier and would have just come for a bit and done them for free. I can't stand when photographers have the nerve to do stuff like this. I hope she emails you back and makes you whole. If not, i would bother her until she did so. So sorry!

Wow that is really unprofessional! For her to not even contact you until after she was supposed to be there and then drag her feet rescheduling. I would definitely go with someone who works in a studio that is well known rather than a freelance photographer. I would write reviews all over Yelp and everywhere else- that is all just unacceptable! I would also let her KNOW how disappointed you are and DEMAND that you get your maternity prints or you are going to contact the better business bureau.

I understand that having a newborn is hectic, but if you had your little one in January why are you just now complaining in April? Some times things get ost in communication, I would reread your emails to make sure you set a date with her before you start trashing her anywhere. She's had nothing but rave reviews on the boards and everywhere else, so I'm not saying that something didn't fall through the cracks but its so unlike her that I old tend to think that perhaps something got lost in translation or email.

Re: Newborn photo gripe
I did my maternity pictures with her and was very pleased. I then did my newborn shoot with her. We set the time and date. We waited and waited and nothing. Later I recieved a text that she was in the hospital. I hoping she didn't lie because I did believe her. It took a while to get my proof but she did deliver. I still haven't receive my prints and album as promised and my newborn shoot was back in February. I'm so sorry you missed out on your newborn shoot. I would have been upset as well.

I am now just complaining because I figured I would give her the time to get her stuff together. And yes I have all her emails and have reread them multiple times. I can send them to you if you want to see them. I'm not here to start drama but am letting people know of my experience. Also I'm not one to complain either but this is something that has bothered me.

I'm sorry. I had high expectations of her bc her work is good. I understand she might have things going on but don't run your business this way. It's not fair to your clients. I hope you get your stuff soon.

FYI, it seems that if anyone complains of LIF vendors on the boards the posts get deleted. So, I wouldn't trust 100% raves from the boards.

Cs would only delete a thread if it were false and the vendor could prove it. If this one gets pulled, Gina isn't a vendor so she would have to give them a valid reason as to why this was wrong.

Re: Newborn photo gripe
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Can I ask a question? When you did the maternity shoot, did you already have the newborn shoot booked or did you call her to book once you had the baby? As a photographer, I've had people "assume" a session would be booked when they said they wanted to do one, but until a deposit is sent, nothing is booked. I've never met Gina and I'm not sure what her policy is, but I'd assume she has a similar booking policy as me. I'm saying that because there are always two sides to the story and without her here to reply, I don't think it's fair of you to blast her in such a personal way (e.g. filthy house). If that's the case, why wouldn't you say so after you were there? I'm sure you're pissed, but this is her livelihood and if you're going to post a review like this, I think it's fair to have her version of the story. Just sayin'......

I don't know the whole story but there are definitley always 2 sides. I do know that if she can't take on a session inquiry she reaches out and refers to fellow photographers so I would assume she would reach out and get some names of photogs who could fill in if she had a session booked and couldnt do it. I do know that her son was in the hospital as was another family member, she is pregnant and has been sick from pregnancy as well as the flu and she just bought a house (she was living with her parents up until a few weeks ago while they were buying their house). So she has had A LOT going on.
Girls who are booked with her- I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the information! Sorry for your experience. For those of you saying that she has a lot going on, that's not an excuse for being unprofessional! Everyone has a lot going on, but you still do your job or handle yourself better than what this sounds like.

Re: Newborn photo gripe
I just want to add that I did both maternity and newborn shoot and I raved once before about her and will do it again. I was very happy with my pictures and she did everything I asked when it came to poses. I hope this is all a misunderstanding.

I sent her a deposit in August for both sessions. Did my maternity in December. Her pics are beautiful but her lack of professionalism and follow up is what is lacking. She has 325 dollars of my money and I have nothing from it. I understand its her livelihood but if she cared she would handle her business better

Crashing
She owes me pictures too and I have been waiting and followed up.
I have my digital proofs so at least that's something but there has been a real lack of communication slow response all the way through.

What a bad experience! I would be furious if a photograph didn't show for a newborn shoot booked. I hope you get your money back soon. Thanks for posting this.
