Poll: 3D/4D ultrasound who's doing it
at first I was like NOOOOO I don't want to but now I kind of want to!! If you did it was it worth it?

this was the main reason why I didn't want to do them in the beginning lol it is creepy!!! at my 20 weeks they did a 3d shot and it was kind of cute lol so I now I am debating
Yea they are not so bad I am doing some research of places and prices

My drs office will do it when they can. I'm 24 weeks and was there yesterday. I asked about it and they said they don't typically do it until 28 weeks because by then they baby looks more like how they will actually look. Even at 24 weeks there isn't much fat formed yet... I got a pic of one of the babies at my 20 week and it wasn't the best angle, but they took a chance since my boys aren't in great positions most of the time.

this is the one I am looking into. Check prices so you can get an idea. I am obviously going for the cheapest package which is 80 for time time that I want to do it at. I want to do it at around 30 weeks. This is in the Westchester area but I am sure there are many more around yours just check the nearest one

I did for #1 around 27-28 weeks and it was $130
I will again with #2 and it looks like the prices are the same. I'll go around 27-28 weeks again this time too.

I did it for my ds and might do it this time around as well. I mainly did it though because my practice only does 3 sonos (8,12 and 20 weeks). I think if your doctor does more sonos then that then it isn't really necessary. I mainly did it for some peace of mind after the 20 week mark.

I did it with my DD and it was SO worth it...........although I recommend waiting until you're around 32-34 weeks. I did two, one was at 23'ish weeks and it wasn't that impressive but later in pregnancy it was AWESOME!!
When she was born she looked EXACTLY like her 3D sono pic, it was crazy. I still have one of the pics framed in her room because at 4.5 yrs old........she still looks SO much like her sono pic, especially when she's sleeping.

me too! they accidently turned it on at my 12 week with my first and it was not pretty- baby looked like an alien- giant head and little stick body.
I am sure its better when you are further along lol

I think they're really cool and DH really wants to do it, but where I go it's close to $200. I just can't see spending that much money. I'm going to be getting sonograms every 4 weeks to monitor growth of the baby, so it's not like we won't see him/her anyway.

The tech at my genetic 13 week sono put on the 4d for a little while and to my surprise my regular sono tech flipped on 4d at my 20 week. That was enough for me and I will not be going to a special place to have it done, mostly because of how expensive it is.

My dr's office will do it (I see a high risk dr and they are equipped with all that stuff with just a flip of a switch).
I have heard some questionable things about getting 3d and 4d sonos for an extended time (or getting them too often) so I'm trying to be strategic about it and not ask till much later.
I had a quick one at 9wks.

OMG same here. Creeps me out and i am not sure why.
I didnt have it with DD but when i went for my level 2 for DS they sent me somewhere different b/c the sono tech was on maternity leave. They were able to just hit a switch on the machine and gave me so many pictures!! I was able to see him sucking his thumb and playing with the umbilical cord. i was like "omg!! put that down!!!". The images were definitely priceless but it really did creep me out for some reason. Maybe it just made it really real.
The only way i would do it this time is if they couldnt tell me the gender at my Level 2.

My doctors office has them but they are $250! Because insurance doesn't cover it. It's soooo annoying because all they have to do is flip a switch so what's the big deal!? Can't they just do one real fast and not tell?
