Traveling with Your Babies!
My sister is getting married next year! She is getting married on a beach in Key West, FL..very small wedding with just family and close friends. By then my twins will be almost 8 months old. My mom told me I should leave them home and come with DH and have my MIL watch them! I thought that this would be an odd request since they are moving to FL in early September and it would be the 2nd time they see there grandchildren..it's their first grandchildren too. I thought this sounded strange. Why wouldn't I bring them? What do you all think? Just confused on why she wouldn't want me to bring them.
Thoughts anyone?

Re: Traveling with Your Babies!
If they are invited to the wedding and all events- bring them.
If they are not invited- I would bring them only if I could logistically do it (ie- is there someone to watch them down there while you're at the wedding?)
I wouldn't be ready to leave my 8 month olds home (IF it were my first DC )

Usually destination weddings are a little more laid back. If it were my sister, she would absolutely want them there and i'd bring them.

Re: Traveling with Your Babies!
this is a personal decision that you and your DH have to make.
If I were in your situation I would definitely bring my baby with me. First, because I plan to breastfeed and second because I think I would cry if I am away from him for one second.
It might be a lot of work maybe that's why your mom mentioned it but it's doable

Re: Traveling with Your Babies!
Thanks Ladies... I have so much family in FL that are always willing to help. In the begining when my sister told me she wanted me to come and be her MOH she knew I was going to bring the babies and never once said I couldn't. She was worried that maybe I wouldn't be able to travel with them because she wasn't sure how old they have to be. I am a new mom and these are my first. No way I can leave them behind...I can't and I wouldn't! Thanks for all your responses.

Re: Traveling with Your Babies!
I brought my son to Jamaica when he was 9 months old. It was the easiest time to bring him because he wasn't too mobile yet. I think you should bring them!

Traveling with Your Babies!
The only reason I wouldn't bring them is 1. No kids invited tot he wedding 2. You and your DH want a few days away.
Traveling with them before they are really mobile is the EASIEST thing in the world. I flew with DS 2x before he was 1 and it was easy. I just took him again at 15 months and a bit tougher but still not bad.
SO as long as #1 & #2 above are not a problem I say bring them. Key West is a fun time and even with a baby or two. you can drink in the streets so you can enjoy a drink while strollign them down the block!!!!

Re: Traveling with Your Babies!
I would not want my baby at a wedding, but I would bring her on the trip and figure something out there. We have a wedding when she will be about 2 months in Virginia, and we are going to bring my mom with us so she can watch her during the wedding. This is just my opinion but I don't think weddings are a place for babies.

Traveling with Your Babies!
You stated that your MOM told you to not bring them. It's not your mom's wedding. I would talk to your sister about it. When my sister was supposed to get married in November I was FREAKING out because I knew it would be a LONG day away from my (by than) 5 month old since my sister wanted her one and only nephew no where near her wedding day, even though my parents both told me to bring him. I was going to talk to her about it but the wedding got called off before I could.
Hopefully your sister is not thinking what your mom is thinking.

Re: Traveling with Your Babies!
Thank You all!!! My mom has seen the light that now I should bring them and that it was wrong for her to say that..I think my sister found out and talked some sense into..just a feeling. My sister would not tell me alot of things that would stress me out. She is trying to keep me calm and collected throughout this pregnancy.
Of Course I am gonna bring them. It's my sister's decision, not my mom's. My family all can't wait to finally meet them!

Re: Traveling with Your Babies!
As a BTDT Mom, I can tell you that traveling with 1 baby that is 8 months is going to be do-able, but difficult. Also, it may be nice for you and DH to get away. HOw long is the trip? I have to say I have done both and for a short trip, its better to leave them home. You get a break, the grandparents get to bond, and its nice to get away with your DH.
Just my 2 cents I've also brought her with me and had a great time. Just for a wedding I would want to be able to relax and have fun!

If they are invited, bring them!!
We're looking to take DS to Disney in November and he'll be 8.5 months old.
We have a wedding this time next year in Hawaii and we're bringing him to that as well.
Even though he'll have no idea what is going on I wouldn't want to leave him home.

This is what I was thinking. I know as a pregnant woman right now you're thinking, "I could never leave my children behind" but once they're here and the stress of every day life begins, you might appreciate a break. If it were me, since it is your sister I would go either way. But if this was a cousin or friend, I would take the time away to be with my husband and recharge my battery. Is it possible this is what your mom was thinking when she suggested having your MIL watch them?
