Name question...
So my moms 1st cousin had a close relationship to my grandmother. So she named her daughter after her but put a little spin on it. Lets say it was Josephine and she swapped to Josephina. When I heard I was a little upset, we were incredibly close w her and its kind of like it was taken away from us. (Myself and my sisters) Bc we weren't near having kids just yet. I'm sort of close w her in that I text every once and a while, no holidays or anything like that, maybe some random once a year visits if even, but I still feel weird using the name, but I don't want to Bc it's beautiful. Plus dh loves it... Any advice?

Re: Name question...
I would absolutely use the name if I loved it that much, especially since you're honoring your grandmother!!

Re: Name question...
In my family it is very common for more than one person to name after a deceased family member. My grandmother had 8 siblings and each of them used some variation of the same name to honor their sister who passed. Similarly, my mother and at least 3 of her cousins used a variation of my great-grandmother's name. I think if there is a name you like and someone you want to honor go for it! There are not an infinite number of names and if one has meaning by all means use it.

Re: Name question...
I would, esp if it's the exact same name and your cousin used a version of the name

Re: Name question...
Ha. Josephine is one of those names on my mom's side that keeps repeating itself.
If you like it, go ahead and use it!

Name question...
I would definitely use it, it's not like it's just some random nice name you like, it has deeper meaning for you. DH and I are against using names that anyone else has used, however when we have a DD, we will use Lily Rose regardless if anyone else has ever used it as those are our grandmas' names (I've wanted to use Rose, my grandma, since I was a little girl).

Thanks ladies, both of my grandmothers were extremely close and important to myself and my sisters and it would make me so happy to honor her.

I completely agree. it's your baby's name - I say choose a name you love no matter who they share it with. and I'm sure your grandmother will be flattered that her name has been honored that way.

Name question...
I would DEF use it. I come from a family where you name after the deceased but I've always liked names that mean something close to the parents. My cousin and I are EXTREMELY close and we are both named after the same person (my grandmother). I think it makes us even closer that my grandmother watches over us at all times. It's scary how much this is proven true over and over again. For example, I will say to my husband "I need to call Lisa and tell her about the ER last night". As SOON as the sentence comes out of my mouth she will call me and say "I had a feeling I needed to call you. What's up?" Or when I was in L&D 2 weeks ago she called me in a panic and said she had this weird feeling something was going on. We do that to each other all the time and I find that it is because we are named for the name person and it is a bond no one will ever break.
I say go for it! And especially if you like the name that much!!!

Thank you ladies, I think I will, I just don't want to get ahead I myself Bc I'm still not sure what this baby is. My grandmother was like a mom to me when she was alive and it would mean a lot to me.
