When do you find out the gender?

Some people tell me 20 weeks, other have had theirs sooner. I know it depends on the position of the baby but when can they generally tell the gender?

20 weeks, my obgyn doesn't do sono's at 16 weeks so i have to wait till my 20 week

The anatomy scan is typically done between 18-22 weeks depending on the doctor and clinic. Some places will do an early scan at 16 weeks. Our tech was able to give us a 75% guess at our 13 week NT scan. My anatomy scan is next week when I will be between 19-20 weeks, but we have a fetal echo today for different reasons and I'm going to ask if they can see today. I'm 18 weeks now.

I have my first trimester screening next week and then another doctor's appt the following week. Hopefully they can see something. It doesnt matter if i have to wait a little longer my main concern is that the baby is ok but it would be nice to know what it is so we can stop calling it IT!

with DS1 we found out at 16 weeks. This time we have the anatomy scan at 17 weeks. At 13 week sonogram the Dr told us if he HAD to guess and that it was probably only 20% accurate. Something tells me hes a little more sure than that but incase hes wrong he says 20%

We found out at around 20 wks when we had the anatomy scan.

You can find out prior to 20 weeks depending on when you're scheduled for u/s.

Typically people find out between 15 and 20 weeks if they have a 16w u/s or a 20w.

With DS 1 we found out at 20 weeks (we had a lot fewer sonos). This time we found out at 16 weeks at our anatomy scan.

I am ama so i had the MaterniT21 which tells the gender at 10 weeks. I told the dr I do not want to know. DH is going crazy.

some people find out as early as 12 weeks during their NT scan it depends on the technician but the norm is during your anatomy scan which is perform from 18-22 weeks

I would have been able to find out at my 20 week....my friend that is going to a high risk dr was able to find out through a blood test at 16 weeks

I also think it depends on the techs. At my NT they said absolutely not, they couldn't tell, it was too early and they wouldn't try. I have friends that have found out at 10+ weeks. So I think some techs might not want to be bothered to try that early, or they don't want the headache of potentially being wrong (even if they give the percentage of certainty).

I will find out at 20 weeks during my anatomy scan (hopefully!).

At 12 weeks the tech said it was too early. She did offer to try and squeeze me in for a quick sono at my 16 week appt if I wanted, but my DH would have killed me if I found out without him, so I didn't ask.

Although we already knew the gender from genetic testing, we saw it clear as day at 11wk4d
