Re: Wondering which SD/schools have smaller K classes?
Not many as most public school districts are downsizing and some are going down to half day kindergarten.
My DD's kindergarten class has 21 kids in it. That seems to be the average. When my son was in K, he had 19 (that was 5 years ago).
Most private schools have smaller classes, but many private schools (religiously affiliated) do not have accomodations for children with special needs.
There are many private special needs schools with small kindergarten programs that allow children without IEPs for a reduced tuition.
(I saw your post in Children with Special Needs which is why I made mention of it).

Really depends most friends their districts have 20-22. My DD's district is full day, cap this year was 18 with some classes having less.

Mine has 26, way too many. There is a thread further down with this same question just so you can get more answers!

We are averaging about 23 district wide, some schools might have 18 while some schools may have 26. Depends on enrollment. All K classes have at least one full time aides as well though.

I'm pretty sure that we also average about 23. When I see how DS's teacher manages the class, it does not seem like too many. They listen so well to her that it feels like a group of about 16. After this year I care more about how the teacher manages the group than I do about the number of kids. DS's teacher and a good group of kids made all the difference.

Both my kids had less than 20 kids in their K classes. There are 4 K classes in their school. Half Hollow Hills.
