To call my dentsit or not? - update!
DH took DS to a new dental practice & while they didn't have him pay a co-pay (said there was no copay), they charged him $50 & said it was the balance of what the ins co will not pay. He paid it & thought that they probably know this from other patients who have our ins policy.
Well, 4 weeks later, I referred my friend there to take her DS (this friend's husbnd works in the same company as my DH & they have the same plan as us) She was not charged a thing! She even asked them because I warned her thta she may have to pay $50. She hasn't received a bill in the mail yet -she said she'd let me know if she did.
Would you call the office? I wouldn't want them to send her a bill because I complained. I am annoyed because now it seems like they made this fee up.
Update* I called them last night. They made a mistake & will send me a check back. The billing person was very nice & apologetic- mistakes happen- glad I called.

Are you sure you both have the same insurance? Before you call to complain, you should have your EOB in hand.
ETA: I noticed the kids' dentist charged us too much when I got the EOB, so I called them and the refunded the overpayment.

Yes, it's the same exact insurance - there is only one that is the same for everyone in the company (the emplyees do not contribute to their insurance plan so it is the same for everyone)

Re: To call my dentsit or not?
$50 sounds like a deductible. If your child went and had a filling or any procedure other then a cleaning, the deductible will apply. If your friend went and took her son and he only had a cleaning there usually is not a deductible for that. However, I would def call them and ask what did the $50 go towards. GL
