GPS + runningahead.com to log. I was using daily mile, but hated that it published my posts to google if you did a search on myself.

i use the nike+ app on my iphone it logs your distance, pace, calories burned.
it then syncs with nike and you can see all your stuff on your computer. i also have it set up that it announces when i go running on FB. since i'm still new, i love the cheers i get when family "like" my running. it lets you run with any music
and if you have "friends" you can "race" against them... it has a leader board and you can see which of your friends is running more than others. i have two friends who run a lot more than me... so the only time i was in the lead was the day of the half marathon... only because it was on the fifth of the month and they hadn't gotten out there much lol.
i still haven't found a need to "upgrade" works well for my newbie needs

App to track your miles?
I use the map my run app. I like it b/c it tracks your workouts, mileage etc., but it is not terrifically accurate. It tends to overestimate the amount you run since the GPS signal picks is not exactly accurate- it makes it look like you ran in zigzags instead of straight which adds a n extra 1/4-1/2 mile on my 4 mile runs, more on longer runs. This in turn makes the speed calculation inaccurate.

That's what I'm afraid of. I want something accurate.

This is why I stopped using the apps and bought the Nike GPS watch last year. I found that it didn't matter which app I used because they all use the phone's GPS which is known to be inaccurate.

Great.....I better get a watch LOL!
Luckily the outdoor trail is marked for me, so I know I'm doing 7miles....BUT in July I need to start adding mileage & I want something accurate. Plus. I'd like to track my pace.

What I do is plan my route before I go out on mapmyrun.com. The site is accurate, it is just the GPS on the phone that isn't. So I will plan it on the website, then use the app to keep track of my time. Then I can figure my pace myself.
Too cheap to buy a watch

LOL I'm not sure I want to get one yet either
I didn't realize you could actually create a route. VERY COOL! I'll have to play around with it!

Re: App to track your miles?
I don't think you can on the phone app, but you can on the website, and if you have an account, they link together to create a workout log for you, which is neat.

Yes, that's why I didn't know. I just checked out the actual website & saw you can create an actual map.
