Oxford Health Policy Change
I just got back from my IUI with RSNY and while I was there I saw a sign up stating that Oxford has changed its policy and will only cover 4 IUI cycles in TOTAL. And will also not pay anything towards an unmedicated cycle at all.
They listed this number to call for more information 877-512-9340
I am LIVID. I pay 100% of my insurance and it isn't cheap. Bad enough there is no IVF coverage at all, now this? They have some nerve.
I now have to call tomorrow because this was technically my 4th IUI even though my last was in 2012. So I'm wondering if this counts as #4 with their new policy or #1 since the policy change? This is going to be some conversation tomorrow when I call.
Anyone with Oxford and going for IUIs should give them a call to find out all the information.

sorry to hear...insurance can be a pain. it's probably your medical plan design as opposed to Oxford - I have oxford and i just received my authorization for FET.
good luck and I hope this IUI worked for you!!

Oh crap! I go in for my cd3 appt on wed. Supposed to have #6 this month. Oxford already approved me for one more I think. How do I find this out? Call that number or rsny? We are supposed to have unlimited coverage for iui.

HOLY COW! WTH?!?!?!? I have Oxford /UHC and we are supposed to have IUI #7 or 8 soon (I lost count ) I guess I'm going to have to make some phone calls. Ours is supposed to be unlimited also, and no coverage for IVF what-so-ever
If it's not one thing it's another

Call that number. That's the main number to get to your case nurse. Your nurse will explain everything to you. RSNY didn't know much which is why they posted the sign with the number to call.
I spoke to my case nurse and she said that it's true. You get 4 in total but they look at it on a case by case basis. So if you're at #4 and it fails, your Dr. can try to put you in for a 5th and if it isn't approved, you call your case nurse and she may be able to push it through for you. She also told me that because I did have a successful IUI on my 3rd (ending in mc) that it sort of reset the clock for me so the IUI I had on Sunday counts as #1. Like I said, she told me it's the new policy but there are loop holes based on your history.
I can't stand this insurance company. They get worse and worse.

Re: Oxford Health Policy Change
I cannot believe Oxford is at it again! I wonder if I'll be covered when/if I go back? Uckkkk I hate this friggin insurance company. I really do.
Maybe you can request a new nurse?
I like Mine. Her name is Mary Jo ext. 65716. She's very nice, easy to talk to, etc etc etc.
I had it out with her once but I think that was just me being hormonal lol
Worth a shot to call and see if you can change your nurse. I don't see why not.

No. I do think it is something like Anan though. I am in limbo right now. Not only may they not approve me but my cycle may have to be cancelled regardless from these cysts. Not happy! Oxford sucks!
