Summer Plans-Which would you pick?
I have to make a decision rather quickly.
I was planning on sending DS to camp through his after school program. The price is good, and it is full day (I work). But I am a touch hesitent because we have had some incidents with the program (though the camp is at a different school) but was resigned to the idea.
My SIL has offered to help me out with baby sitting this summer (for free, but I would pay her something).
I am trying to decide if I should stick to my original plan, or find a half day camp and half my SIL help for the rest of the day or just use my SIL.
My SIL is 18 and an early education major, BUT I don't think she will be 'using' that per se with DS this summer.
Which would you pick?

I would try the camp 1/2 day since the school has changed, the other 1/2 I would let him stay with SIL.

Re: Summer Plans-Which would you pick?
I think my answer would depend on a lot of things.
How old is your DS? Will your sister be able to keep up with him? Keep him engaged all day?
How fully committed is your sister in doing this and how responsible is she? It's a huge commitment and she has to understand that this is all day/everyday. If she calls out one day bc she is sick/ has plans etc. that it will put you in a bad spot.
I always try to avoid depending on one person as a Ftwm, especially someone who is family and not getting paid (even though you will be paying her)
Also, how bad are the incidents at the camp?

The incidients at the after school program have had to do with lack of supervision. He has had a dislocated elbow because he fell, but no one knew what happened. He also was beat up 2x by the same kid.
DS is 6 now.

I would be leary of sending him somewhere that lacks supervision, and even though it's at a different school, it sounds like it's run through the same program? I would go with the SIL idea if she is up to taking him out and doing things with him. Or, do half day camp elsewhere (Karate, sports, etc.), and have your SIL watch him the other half of the day.

I agree with this

Re: Summer Plans-Which would you pick?
With what you described, definitely SIL, or an alternative camp.
I would not send him to that one.

Agreed.
I would also ask him what he wants to do. He might like the comforts of home and being with his aunt. Either do a half day/half SIL or let SIL watch him all day and just plan activities for them to do during the week.
