WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
Start drinking more than 4 oz of formula? My little one is approaching 4 weeks and can easily put down 4 but all the books say not to do more than that.

WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
Do not go "by the books" in fact throw them away. Each baby is different and if yours wants more give it to them. If they have had enough they will either stop drinking or spit up.

Dd is 21/2 months and up to 6 oz. I upped her when I started feedin her every 2 hours. I say do it when you think she can handle more.

WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
I don't think DD would take more then 3 oz till she was like 3 or 4 months old. She has always been a peanut though.

Re: WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
If you think she needs more try increasing her feedings by a 1/2 ounce until she doesn't take it all. My DD2 was taking 4 oz. when she came home from the hospital so believe what the books say.

Re: WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
Don't go by books, feed your LO what they need to feel satisfied. You can't really over feed a NB. I increased my kids bottles as needed, I didn't follow any timeline or book. I followed their lead, they knew what they needed better than anyone.
ETA - My DS is almost 3 months now and he's been taking 6 oz bottles every 3 hrs until his last bottle at 8pm for the past 3 weeks.

Re: WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
When DD went for her 1 month visit, her pediatrician said we could increase from 4 to 6oz. Since then, she takes anywhere between 4 and 6 oz. She usually takes the 6 oz around bedtime. She'll be 10 weeks on saturday. HTH

Every baby is different, you can't go by the books! I know babies who leave the hospital drinking 4 oz of formula.
As long as your LO isn't throwing up afterwards, then you aren't overfeeding.

Re: WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
Ds was drinking that right out of the gate. Use a book as a guideline, go by your instints for everything else. Feed if they are hungry.

Re: WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
not sure but i would feed more if your LO wants it. My doctor always told me to keep at least an extra half ounce in the bottle more than she drink and when she starts to drink that add another half ounce

WHEN DID YOUR NEWBORN...
I wouldnt deprive the baby, if theyre eating alot that means theyre hungry. My DD is 4 months old and takes anywhere from 4-5oz every 3 hours. With DS he never took more than 5oz a feeding. Every baby is different, what do the books know???

This! My son is big! He's over 11 lbs at 5 weeks old. He takes 5 oz. We are actually thinking of increasing him to 6 because he downs the bottle and sometimes I have to breastfeed after just to fill him up. I say offer it.
