UPDATE: 3-Day PTing...how do you decide if maybe they just aren't ready?
Today is day 2 & she knows she's just not responding...
How do you know if it's just not working?

Please tell me things get easier with the 3-Day PTing!?
I just tried the 3 day with my son and he refused to sit on the potty - it was a nightmare... needless to say we are back in diapers!

Honestly it didnt work for me at all with my son...it took alot longer than 3 days and was a nightmare
I just eased up on him and he is finally potty trained completely, he will be 4 in august.

Don't feel like a failure. There's really nothing you can do but be positive & encouraging. The 3 day training worked for us, along with a ton of patience and paper towels My only advice would be to keep with it. Waking up from nap dry on day 1 is a huge success! Good luck.

Re: Please tell me things get easier with the 3-Day PTing!?
I really was fine waiting until she one day asked...DD1 did that, so I can dream that I'd have 2 kids like that
But last night she was literally in tears because she hated the diapers. Says, "undees are cushie & comfy."
So I had to try.
I hate the idea of giving up...but if she wants undies so bad, she needs to learn to not have accidents, or the diapers are coming back.

I think the 3 day potty thing is unrealistic. I used bits and pieces of it for my girls. Took a little over a week.
And my youngest still has accidents. We just deal with it.
Good luck.

Make a potty chart, and let her put a sticker on it every time she successfully goes. If she makes it to the end of each day She gets a prize. Hang it where everyone can see it and make a big deal out of it. Worked like a charm for my dd, she was potty trained before 2 1/2 . It realistically took 1 week. First 3 days were awful. But, she hasn't had an accident in months! Hang in there!

Re: Please tell me things get easier with the 3-Day PTing!?
I did it ds got it by half way through day 1. He did have a few accidents after that but mostly bc he didnt make it to the potty in time. Took him a week to get the pooping.
It sounds like your daughter is doing great. I did however did pull ups at night but he wakes up less and less wet.
I started a sticker chart along with it and for every times he went he put a sticker in the box and when he got 3 he got a prize. I kept repeating all of day 1. Didnt even have to by day 2

You have to give i a chance it was only day 1 sounds like she did great. Ds went through 10 pairs of underware before his nap on day 1 and then woke up dry. And only had a few accidents after that in the following days

i did the 3 day and it worked for me. Day one was a disaster i felt defeated by day 3 she completely trainned for day and naps.
I couldnt get night traning thought and still cant. I finally gave in and put pullup on her (after having underwear on at night for month or so). I need to really start working on it again for night

She woke this morning soaked but I sorta expected that.

Didn't work for me. It was a nightmare. He went back in diapers and I needed a break. Finally I just did it my way. He had no bottoms on. There were accidents and I did put him in pullups at school letting them know to keep asking him. I don't remember how long it took. Maybe a little over a week, but he did it. #2 took a bit longer, but he got it down. He was 100% potty trained night, pee and poop at 3.5.

Yep....today was going to great! Was dry all morning, even caught it in time a few times. BUT then I ran downstairs to get myself a yogurt & in that minute I came up & she was peeing on the floor. meanwhile, I had just had her on the toilet. I feel horrible, exhausted, frustrated, & put her in diapers.
Maybe she's jus not ready? How do you know to continue of not? One minute she hate diapers & wants "comfy underwear". The nex she's fine peeing in them (their bathroom is across the hallway, steps away!

Re: UPDATE: 3-Day PTing...how do you decide if maybe they just aren't ready?
I just did it with my son. It really does work. Just because it didn't work by day 2 doesn't mean it doesn't work. My son didn't catch on until day 3.
Did you read the book? I didn't need the book for DD - she caught on ASAP. But for my DS, he was significantly more resistant to potty training. But when I followed this method to the letter, it worked. There were specific things mentioned in the book that DH and I were doing wrong and when I corrected them we made progress. I have a pdf of it if you don't have it.
That doesn't mean there were no accidents... there were plenty and 3 weeks later, there still are a few. We had a big accident this week where day care called me and asked me to bring him another pair of shoes before pick up!! And the very next day, we took 2 more steps forward.
It's hard, and I thought about stopping too, but for us sticking with it proved to be the right thing to do.

Re: UPDATE: 3-Day PTing...how do you decide if maybe they just aren't ready?
I am not sure the exact protocol for the 3 day potty training but I did stay home for 3 days and put my DD in panties. She was excited the first day to have panties on with different characters. She went a few times on the potty but then when in her panties. She wasnt consistent and I felt liek a failure. But day I decided to add tattoos into the mix. She got a tattoo for every time she went on the potty. DD loved that idea and it worked well. By day 3 she was trained for peepee and poopies (for naps too). She is in a diaper overnight though. Eventually (like after a week) she forgot she was supposed to get tattoos, so that fad has ended (thankfully).

Re: UPDATE: 3-Day PTing...how do you decide if maybe they just aren't ready?
I stopped on the second day when DD cried her eyes out on the potty and then pooped in the corner! I could tell it was frustrating for us both so we tried agin a few months later just using some of their ideas and it worked much better. Didn't take 3 days I'd say more like 5 and she had occasional poop accidents for that first month or two. Just do what YOU feel is best and stay consistent

Re: UPDATE: 3-Day PTing...how do you decide if maybe they just aren't ready?
Yes, I have the PDF & was following it. (maybe she sensed my fake enthusiasm of reinforcement )
I think for now, it wasn't fair for either her or I. I told my DH no talk from anyone about why she's in her dipaers, asking why she poops & then asks to be changed etc. I think there are too many people (ILs included) on her about her "business" but I'm the one doing the actual training.
Maybe we'll give it a little break, then revisit it again.
I appreciate the reinforcement that everyone deals with these set backs.

You just said something that stood out to me - the fake enthusiasm. And don't I know it. Because the first time I saw my son make it to the toilet on time I got so excited, I jumped up and down and screamed. I mean, I have wall to wall carpet... I was NOT pleased cleaning urine out of it every couple of hours so I was really happy that we had finally made progress.
When you're both ready it will happen.

Re: UPDATE: 3-Day PTing...how do you decide if maybe they just aren't ready?
Oh.....no.......when she actually asked, or I took her & she peed, I was over the moon.
Her 5yo sister would grab pom poms, we danced, we call my DH.....BUT when she had an accident, the book said to still praise for trying. So when I said I was faking it, I meant, I was grinning & smiling, so not to loose MY poop in frustration.
I'm beyond ready, but I think a part of me has never been a fan of forcing the child. I guess when she cried to be in underwear, I thought she's ready then. This girls sends mixed signals
